She's Mine To Claim: Mr. Alpha, Can You Kiss Me More? novel Chapter 48

Amelia's pov

The cafeteria buzzes with hushed whispers of shock, stolen surprised glances that turn to lethal glares from the girls while the boys look wonder. They must be wondering what kind of rock fell on Raiden's head.

My glare hardens and my gritting teeth pains my jaw but I cannot stop as I grow more and more frustrated. I take a quick glance at the line and noticed Pickett had finally become aware of what was going on.

Her eyes told me she was angry and just as stunned as everyone else. Of course she'd be angry, I had promised her I would never deal with Raiden again and she would not have to worry about Dayna taking out her anger for me on her anymore.

My stomach burns with guilt and I look away, staring back at Raiden whose head is still tilted, eyes intense on me. It feels like I have betrayed her once again.

" You must be a clown today," I gritted, loud enough so everyone could hear. " A clown who's not funny at all."

Instead of being upset like I had hoped he would, Raiden's smirk only deepens and he leans forward until I can take the whiff of his scent. I breathed it in. " Maybe," he chuckle low. " But I am the clown you can't resist."

My heart races and to my embarrassment, my cheeks heat up with red. The ripples of laughter and murmurs are not even loud enough to compete with my own pounding heart. I hate that there was something about Raiden that completely throws me off balance.

I roll my eyes, trying and failing to get back my resolve. " You must have mistaken me for Dayna," I snarl under my breath. " Sorry to burst your little bubble but I'm not that nasty bitch with fake boobs."

His smirk widens, and his eyes flicker with amusement, dancing as he leans in even more until his palms land on either side of the table and he cages me in. I press my body against the table, trying my best to move away from everything him.

Something more intense, something secretive between us.

And then it clicks. He is surely testing me, pushing me to the edge to see how far I will go. How I'll respond. But I cannot let him be satisfied to see me crack under the pressure he has put on my shoulders. I cannot have him gain whatever he is seeking for.

I straighten my spine, glaring at him as I spit with venom. " Whatever sick game you're trying to play with me," I lean forward, my eyes locked on his. " It ends now."

Raiden's smirk twist into a smile that made butterflies flutter up my ribcage, tickling me in ways I wish they hadn't. " You're wrong Amelia," he leans forward, breath literally brushing against my lips. " The game has just begun."
