Raiden’s pov

Dayna’s face twisted, horror mixed with disbelief but the gasp of surprise from my mom drew my attention away from her. Her eyes are wide and I knew I had caught her just as off guard as I had done my father and Dayna.

Claiming a luna before my eighteenth was crazy, I knew that. Especially since I didn’t find my mate yet. I didn’t know who. However, both me and my beast chose……Amelia. For some reason I wanted the little human.

A human I should hate to my very core. Yet…I cannot seem to. She had me wrapped and twisted around her little fingers.

My mind goes blank when I took a whiff of her scent drawing closer.

The second her scent brushed the air, everything else seem to just go on mute. All of it turns into white noise as her scent wraps around me like a coat. I cannot help it. My nostrils flared as I breathe in her scent.

Even her words from earlier, even her seeing me as now a monster did not make me want her any less.

She was so close and she was heading this way. I focused on her, her stomping feet, her harsh breathing. She was furious. I could sense her anger.

“That Raiden bastard,” she sneers, the anger building in her voice when my name slips out of her mouth. “He will pay!”

My chest tightened and my beast pushes back in the back of my mind, saddened that her anger was directed at us even though we expected it.

Amelia?” I can hear Damon’s fake shocked voice question behind the door. With his hearing he would’ve been able to pick up on her angry rushing footsteps. He knew she was coming here.

What are you doing here?” his questioning comes out with intrigue, perhaps wondering why she hadn’t left with the rest of the student body.

Where is he?” Her voice harsh and impatient, making me stir uneasily. I didn’t like that she was this mad.

“Who?” Damon ask, his voice pretending to be bored and unsure.

Raiden!” She snaps, her impatience snapping like a whip through the hall. I knew she wouldn’t leave until she found me. Amelia wasn’t stupid, she knew I was near,

“He’s not here,” Lester butted in casually. You should go home.”

I can sense her irritation growing, sense the anger….oh spitfire was livid.

“I’m not leaving until I face your asshole of a friend,” she grits out. “He hurt my friends! He and his dumbass girlfriend! Hell you two may be involved to!”

I nod as she releases her aura over me and I stand up, nodding to her stiffly as I make my way toward the door. However before I could, Dad reaches out and grasp my shoulder firmly. I stop in my tracks and turn to him.

His eyes are very telling, searching my gaze for something as his brows drawing in a worried furrow. ‘I trust that you know what you are doing?‘ he mind links worriedly. ‘ Control your beast around her.‘

I nod. ‘I won’t harm her or make anyone harm her,‘ I look him dead in the eye as I utter boldly. ” She’s mine to claim.”

Dad’s eyebrows rose before he relaxed them. With a squeeze to my shoulder he motions for me to go on. I am relieved that my parents were not upset with me for claiming a human I did not even know if she would be my mate.

I step out the door and my eyes land on the little human who had me wrapped around her finger instantly. She stood in the center of the hallway, facing Damon and Lester who blocked her from going any further.

Her little frame was practically vibrating with fury, her chest rising and falling, her eyes burning a hole through Damon then me when they land on where I stood just watching her……soaking in her beauty even when she was mad.

I was going to bring her home and as far away from Dayna as possible. My beast and I had only one priority…..her. Getting her safe and away from danger.
