Raiden’s pov
The pain hadn’t hit yet, not right away at least. At first it was just a slight pressure until it grew more intense. Then a burning heat I knew all too well. The arrow wasn’t regular.
It was laced with wolfsbane.
I staggered back, grunting as a burning sensation spread across my chest like wildfire. ” Raid–Raiden?” Amelia had since stopped her squirming, her voice filled with terror.
My hand grip the arrow embedded in my chest, so near my heart. I grasp Amelia harder, my beast now wanting nothing more than to make sure she was alright. Pushing the pain in the back of my mind, I push us back into the building just as another arrow fly into the door.
Fuck.
A hunter has breached the territory,‘ I mind–linked my parents including Damon and Lester.‘ Amelia is with me! I must get her to safety.‘ my feet are quick as I push through the burning of the wolfsbane in my chest, in desperate search to get Amelia somewhere safely.
I knew the hunters would barge in any time now and I could not afford to have Amelia see me in my beast form. I didn’t want her to truly keep thinking of me as the monster she already thought of me as.
I could not reveal myself to her yet. Not until I make her trust me.
‘Is she hurt? Are you hurt?‘ mom mind–linked back quickly.
‘No, she’s not hurt,‘ I say swiftly. ‘ However I am. Arrow laced with wolfsbane. I am hit in the chest.‘
‘Get to safety, we will handle it,‘ mom replied, her worry dripping through the link between us. ‘I need Amelia away from all of this, do you understand?‘
‘Yes,‘ I replied.

Raiden! Raiden!” Amelia screeches as I continue to run towards a small janitor closet to the left. I could smell the hunters, hear their rushing footsteps. They had surrounded the school. “What’s happening? Are you hurt? Raiden?” Amelia’s voice grows by the minute.
Getting Amelia out of here without her seeing me shift was not a
possibility.
I had to keep her safe and to do that I’d have to kill every single one of these hunters. I swing the janitor’s door open and with a grunt set her on her feet. The second her eyes land on my chest where the arrow was struck in, her eyes widen and a loud gasp pushes out of her lips.

“Raiden!” terror filled her voice as her trembling hands try to touch my chest. Here
eyes snap to mine. “You’re bleeding. Oh
my God you’re hurt,” tears brim her eyes and I swallow hard.
“Let me call 911, let me-
”
Stay in here Amelia,” I grunted, pushing her further into the cramped space as I hear the rushing footsteps nearing. Lester and Damon were close, but not close enough to handle the two hunters that were seconds from opening the door. “Don’t come out unless I come to get you, okay?”
What?” She gasped, her eyes widening in fear even more. “You’re hurt! You need medical attention! You can-
Stay in here!” I said way harsher than I meant to but I could not risk this back and forth right now.
She flinches and her bottom lip trembles slightly as she gives me a reluctant nod. My eyes soften. I promise I’d explain and make this up to you baby. But instead of saying those words, I sent her a hard stare that told her to stay put and closed the

I’ll make it up to you, I promise.
Amelia’s pov
I swallowed, my throat tightening as I keep seeing the arrow protruding out of his chest, the end red with his blood. My fingers tremble. He was injured badly. Hell he could be bleeding to death right now.
My mind races, unable to wrap my head around what had just happened. Raiden had gotten shot with an arrow……and instead
of making me call for help he pushed me in this tiny closet and told me stay put.
I may hate him but that didn’t mean I wanted him dead. The fear of him getting hurt even more gripped me so hard I stumbled back into the shelves, reaching out as I gasp for breath.
Some cleaning products fell on the floor, scattering around my feet, but that’s not what made panic surge in my being and crawl in my throat. It’s the stains of his blood on the floor, close to the door.
I can’t breathe.
My trembling fingers search for my phone but I closed my eyes tightly when I realized I had heard it clatter to the floor when
he threw me over his shoulder. In that moment my main focus was for him to put me down and didn’t care about the phone
then.
It feels like my breath is snagged in my throat, halting me from breathing further.
I ripped my eyes off the blood, shakily making my way to the door. As my fingers wrap around the door handle I stopped
when I heard a howl. My fingers loosen, barely scrapping the metal handle now.
My heart jumps in my throat. It sounded like a wolf.
A shiver race down my spine and terror gripped me hard. What is a wolf doing here? Why are there snarl sounds?
He told me to stay in but I can’t bring my obey his command. Not when I can hear the loud sounds of snarls and bangs. Something was going on. I needed to get out of there. I needed to get out. I can’t just stay there while Raiden is battling
whoever or whatever this is.
What if…what if this is a prank? Raiden and his goons sick prank?
But those sounds, they sound too real to be a joke….
The thought of this being a joke made me grip the handle once more. It couldn’t be a joke, he was seriously injured. I shook my head, moving the silly thought of this being a prank out of my head.
If this is real, then staying here wouldn’t help Raiden. I couldn‘

Finding the sudden surge of courage, I push open the door, stumbling out anded down the hallway where the sound was coming from.
The sight before me made me still where I stood as both disbelief and terror rooted a thread within me. The sound of my heart seems louder than the loud bang sound that reverberates through the air when the huge wolf clashes with a human while two other wolves fought against two more humans lower down the hall.
