Raiden’s pov
My heart skipped and the sudden urge to see her, to know that she’s alright itched me enough for me to not think about the consequences of going to her. But Dad reaches out and stops me before my feet can touch the first stair.
“You can’t see her yet, she’s still in shock. Give her some time, have your mom and me speak to her first.” Dad voiced, giving my arm a firm squeeze to let me know they’d try their best to not make her panic.
It’s hard to not go to her yet, it’s hard to not see her face. But I know he is right, he is always right. I’m the one she saw, so she’d naturally be more scared of me. That didn’t sit right in my gut.
The thought of her being scared of me was like a nightmare.
I nod, stepping back with my hands tucked in my pockets. “Okay.”
Amelia’s pov
“Amelia,” Giovanni sighs, sitting at the edge of the bed. My back is turned away from him and my gaze would not drop to stare at him.
I don’t know what’s going on anymore, nothing makes sense.
“Amelia,” another soft sigh pushes out of his lips as he reach out for my ankle, but I pull them up and hissed. “Don’t touch me! I’m not struggling this time so there’s no need to sedate me or pretend that you care now.”
“You need to calm down, I will explain everything-
“Yeah like bringing me to his room! The guy I just saw as a wolf then shifted into his human form! Do you know how sick that sounds just saying it out of my mouth! And you brought me here!”
I could no longer take it anymore and sat upright, my frustrated eyes on his. They were blurred so I knew I had tears in my eyes. Dammit.
I hated being seen as weak. That wasn’t me. I hated this feeling.
“He brought you here Amelia for your protection, it wasn’t safe to bring you back home,” Giovanni brows furrowed. “Raiden was trying to protect you, what you saw, I can-
“We can explain.” The door creaks open as Emily and Bryson, Raiden’s parents walked in. I stiffened despite their warm gentle gazes. Their son, had been a wolf not too long ago. Makes one wonder if the parents were the same.
I gripped the sheets under me and looked at them without a flicker. Emily is the first to break the tense silence following Bryson’s earlier words.
“Amelia-
“Please don’t lie to me,” I pleaded, scared that they’d beat around the bush and not tell me the truth. “Tell me, everything, I want to know everything Why is your son
I swallowed Had it been some trick of the mind? Was I going mad? I was panicking. Maybe Bryson wasn’t a wolf at all. Maybe 1
But Giovanni would have protested if what I had seen wasn’t true He didn’t confine, but him saying he’d explain makes me think that it wasn’t a trick of the mind at all
“A werewolf?” Emily said softly as she took a step forward, however when she sees that I tense up even more she stops and looks back at her husband who gives her a nod of encouragement

“A werewolf?” I tested the word on my tongue and it felt weird and foreign. It didn’t feel right. Was I even awake?
Emily’s gaze softened. “I know what we’re about to say is a lot to take in Amelia. And you may resent us, but just know what we did was only to protect you and make sure you’re safe.”
The grip on the sheets turned so deathly that my knuckles were growing white. I spared Giovanni a glance and this time he was not looking at me, but looking at the floor in deep concentration.
My heart begins to ram. “Why would I resent you all?”
Emily looks at Bryson and then sighs, walks over to me and despite my tensing she doesn’t stop this time until she’s close enough to nearly brush the edge of the bed. “Because we kept the truth from you. About what we are…about who you really
are…
I droned out, confused as I try to piece her words together to make them make sense. What does she mean about who I really
am? Who are these people?
Be calm Amelia. It wouldn’t be good to freak out now.
“What are you talking about?” My brows furrowed. “I know what I am.” My eyes flick to Giovanni who stiffens. “Giovanni?” I whispered, my heart skipping. Why were they so quiet all of sudden? What am I?
“Amelia,” Bryson is the one to speak, taking firm steps forward to stand beside his wife. “You’re not really Giovanni’s
daughter.”
I froze. My heart froze. My brain slugged then raced. I blinked. “What?” My voice sounds hollow, dead. What are they saying?
“Giovanni isn’t your biological father-
I cackled. It’s dry. No emotion. Dead, like the soul I was carrying in my body right now. I am lost, unsure of who I am. “The paperwork, the paternity test-
“Were forged,” Emily cuts in softly. “We had to do it to make sure you come here. To make sure you didn’t fall into the wrong
hands.”
It’s only when her eyes fall to my arms that I realize my nails were digging into my skin so hard that it was drawing out blood. “What are you doing to yourself?” She gasped in concern, coming forward to stop my assault.
I flinched back and snapped. “Trying to wake myself up from this terrible nightmare! This must be a nightmare!” I looked at Giovanni. “Tell me this is just a nightmare! Tell me!”
He looks sad, ashamed and my heart drops in my stomach already knowing his answer I swallowed hard, looking around the room For what, I did not know. “I’m sorry Amelia. We thought this was the only way-
“Then who,” I choked. “Who’s my real dad? My mom, was she the one who actually killed herself?” I looked at Emily, my breaths coming in short pants “Who the hell are you people? What the hell are you!? What the hell am I?!” I screamed, my throat burning from the force
