Raiden’s pov
I watch my mom in her most dominant form as her aura pulsed through the room. The sun had just began its descent behind the distant trees when the last of the witches was dragged into the park house. Pickett’s parents.
It was a place a little far from our home where we would have our pack meetings. We didn’t want to bring the witches where Amelia was, we intended to protect her as much as possible.
Folding my arms I leaned against a pillar as I watch the witches bow to my mother, dad and I.
“As some of you know, hunters have breached our borders a couple of days ago. Though we have taken care of it, it has come to our attention that there is a stranger, a hybrid, bearing the face of someone we know has slipped through our borders undetected.” Mom’s voice is cold and dominant, the opposite of her usual warm and soft voice.
The witches begin to mumble amongst themselves before Pickett’s mother speaks up louder than the rest. “Are you insinuating that we are responsible for this?” She looks around the room. ” Some of us no longer have magic and have decided to live the human life! Such magic is forbidden for a reason!”
Mom’s eyes narrowed, sharpening like a blade. “Watch your tone Laura,” Her warning was cold and made everyone in the room bow their heads and bare their necks.
“I am sorry Queen,” Laura apologize, her head still bowed. “But such magic isn’t practiced anymore. Not if the one who practices it wants to suffer the consequences that come with it.” Her voice is softer now, tamed by the dominance of my mother’s.
“Laura is right,” Pickett’s father spoke up. “Most of us here, including my family have all given up our magic to live simple human lives. Besides, that kind of magic you’re insinuating isn’t easy to accomplish. If anyone is able to do this then that person has nothing to lose.”
Mom’s eyes swirled with those of her wolf, her aura pressing heavier in the room. Even my wolf bowed to her and we had just become alpha. Her power was that strong.
“That is exactly what I am afraid of. Someone with nothing to lose,” she shifts her gaze around the bowed heads of the witches. “Is someone who would risk everything to gain what they want.”
The witches murmur their agreement, showing their necks further. “You can trust us Queen. We are not only not strong enough to create such magic but we would never risk going against you,” Laura uttered with truth in her voice.
Mom nods. “All of you better pray you’re not involved because you won’t live long to even regret it if you are,” Mom’s voice is firm, dominant. I watch her in awe.
I push off the pillar and strut over to stand beside my mother, my wolf pushing to the surface to show our own power that tied with our mother’s. The room gasped, the witches shocked to feel another powerful wolf standing before them.
“I completely agree with my mother,” I said, voice calm yet charged with power that made them stiffen “Human now or not. If the people I love get hurt because of magic and I find out any of you lied. I will not hold back and tear you apart.”
I watch them shudder, the scent of the fear growing even stronger. “Yes alpha,” they murmured bowing their heads.
A few minutes more with mom and dad speaking, Damon pushes through my mind link. ‘Your mate’s crying. We tried to calm her down but it seems as though she’s having a panic attack‘
I had left Damon and Lester to protect Amelia.
I’m on my way‘
I don’t care if we were in the middle of an important meeting Amelia came first before anything else. My mate came first. And with a look to mom and dad silently telling them that my mate needed me, I leave, heading straight for my distressed
