Raiden’s pov
I blurred through the trees, my focus on getting to Amelia as soon as possible. The thread between us…..I could feel her, feel
her distress somehow.
When I got there, I took the stairs two at a time, my heart pounding as the closer I got, the louder I can hear her sniffles and
sharp gasps.
“She didn’t want us to come in,” Lester said when he saw me. I nod.
“You two can go, I’ll take it from here,” I tell them both. These were one of the two I would forever trust with my life. And now
I trust them with Amelia’s.
They nod and as they leave, they smack me on my shoulders as if silently telling me I got this. I didn’t wait for them to leave completely and opened the door, stepping in and shutting it behind me.
The curtains are drawn and the only light cloaking the room was the faint glow of the bedside table lamp. My eyes shift around, searching for my mate.
I spot her in seconds and my heart shatters at the sight of her collapsed in the corner of the room, knees to her chest and
hugging herself as if she was terrified.
“Amelia,” I whisper, rushing towards her. I pause briefly when I hear the crack of glass under my feet. I looked down and saw
shattered glass with red liquid. It smelt like juice.

Ignoring it, I continue my way towards her and fall to my knees before her.
Even with my presence breaths away from her, she doesn’t look up and doesn’t shift. It’s like she’s stuck in her head, gripped
by whatever is keeping her trapped there.
Her little body trembles with silent sobs, her nails digging into the fabric of her dress. I can’t help but pick up on how erratic her breathing was. I am torn to see her like this.
I reach out gently, not wanting to scare her even more. “Baby,” I whisper. “I’m here. What’s wrong?” I cooed gently, my fingers brushing her arm. The second she feels my touch she flinches slightly and lets out a startled cry.
Her eyes snapped up to me and she blinks. Something shift in her gaze then when our eyes meet. Recognition.
And she crashes into me, her arms wrapping around me tightly as she begins to sob in the crook of my neck. “Shhh baby,” L coo, running my fingers down her hair and holding her to me gently. “I’m here now, I got you Amelia.”
I hold her tight as the sobs rake over her small frame. I press my lips to her temple and rock her slowly. “Breathe with me, baby. Just breathe, okay, in and out.”
Her body starts to respond to my words, her breathing steadying Soon the sobs stop and her breathing becomes normal, yet she still clings to me as if I was her lifeline.
“I’m sorry,” she apologizes and my brows furrow, not understanding why she’d apologize. “I broke the glass by accident and
had a panic attack”
My heart clenched as she speaks, her voice raw with emotion. She’s clutching to me tightly, her face still buried in the crook of my neck.
“Hey,” I said softly, gently pulling back to get a look at her face. Her eyes are red and tear stains are on her pretty cheeks. “It wasn’t your fault baby. It was an accident, you don’t have to apologize.”
She sighs, her gaze dropping to the floor. “I’ve been having those panic attacks since the day I saw her in that tub all bloody,” her voice trembles. “Any red liquid triggers me back into that memory”

My chest tightened. I can only imagine what she was going through.
I gently cupped her cheek, my thumb rubbing against her soft still damp skin. “I’m sorry you have to go through all this Amelia,” I utter softly, leaning to press my forehead against hers and closed my eyes.
“But
ou don’t have to go through it all alone anymore,” I told her with every ounce of truth I could muster. “I’m here now.”
I kiss her no and pulled away to stare down at her lovingly. I’m not sure how long we stayed here cuddled up in each other’s arms but it must’ve been a while because I heard the front door open followed by my mom and dad’s voice.
They were back.
“Is it raining?”
melia suddenly questions and I pause my fingers running through her hair.
I listened and nod. “It is.”
She looks up, her eyes now no longer red and teary. “Can we go outside?”
My brows knot. “In the rain? What if you catch a cold-
Her eyes drop sadly and I stop my words. I was overprotective of my little mate but I also wanted her to be happy. So I nod, kissing her forehead. “Come on little spitfire, let’s go outdoors.”
She smiled and squealed when I lifted her in my arms, holding her up and telling her to wrap her legs around my waist.
I’d do anything for her. Even if that means pushing my worries about her catching a cold to the back burner. Right now she wants this and who am I to deny my mate what she wants?
