Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 100

"What? You want us to move out?" Grace Quinn's sharp voice echoed through the whole house.

Her chest heaved with anger, as if she couldn't believe what her husband was asking of her.

Chloe was equally furious. "Dad, why should we be the ones to move out? This is our home too! Isn't Sunny just trying to push us around?"

Sean had expected their outrage, so he tried to soothe them in a gentle tone. "Didn't you both always complain about this house being old and say you wanted a change of scenery? I have a penthouse in Midtown, it's spacious, on the top floor, with a terrace—it's not any worse than this place. You can move there for now, and after some time, you can come back."

But his words did nothing to calm the two women.

Chloe's face flushed with anger. "Dad, this isn't about how nice the place is! Sunny is humiliating Mom! She's her elder, and Sunny's treating us like we're nothing!"

"Sunny's never even called Mom ‘mother' since she was a kid, and now she's doing this. If you give in to her ridiculous demands now, she'll just get bolder!"

Grace Quinn stayed silent, which was as good as agreeing with her daughter.

But Sean, who had already promised this earlier that morning, had no intention of taking it back. Besides, none of this would even be happening if it weren't for his wife's nephew!

His expression darkened, brows furrowing. "Enough. There's nothing more to discuss."

Grace's heart twisted.

Chloe felt as if she could barely breathe.

If her friends ever found out about this, who knew what they'd say behind her back!

"There's something else," Sean said, his voice low and stern. "Grace, you did give Sunny those pills, and the evidence is solid. If this goes to court, you'll both be on the hook for a lawsuit. It'll be a disaster for the company's stock price."

"You and your nephew need to post a public apology online. You don't have to go into details, just be vague about the reason. Show some sincerity, let her vent a little, and she'll drop the charges."

"What?" Grace and Chloe both shouted, voices rising again.

"Dad, has Sunny put you under some kind of spell? Are you out of your mind?" Chloe stared at him, incredulous.

Why should her mother have to apologize to that little brat in front of everyone? What would happen to her mom's reputation after that?

After meeting her father, Sunny headed straight to the law office.

She was swamped with work until late afternoon, when she finally noticed that Stellan had tried to call her.

She stepped into the break room and dialed him back.

In a chilly conference room across town, the man's frosty demeanor thawed the moment he saw her name on his phone. "Let's pause for a moment—I need to take this call."

Quentin Chase looked like he'd seen a ghost. Since when did their CEO ever leave a meeting halfway to answer the phone?

It was unheard of.

The other executives exchanged bewildered glances. Had something major happened?
