Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 120

"Mr. Lawson…" Chloe's voice trembled as panic washed over her. She waved her hands in a fluster, stammering, "Mr. Lawson, Sunny was the one who snuck in without an invitation. I never said anything about your date."

She'd always assumed Stellan's date for the night was Vicky.

But then, in front of everyone, Stellan pulled Sunny gently to his side, draping an arm around her shoulders in a gesture so intimate that Chloe nearly dropped her jaw in shock.

Her mind spun. Her hands went icy cold.

So, it was true—Stellan and Sunny really were involved.

She'd suspected it at his grandmother's memorial service, but now, there was no room for doubt.

Stellan fixed Chloe with a frosty stare. "Tell me, does my date really need an invitation?"

Alexander couldn't hold back a laugh. "Well, Stellan, looks like your name doesn't carry as much weight as it used to. What's this? Letting your girlfriend get bullied at your own event?"

He crooked a finger at Vicky, who reluctantly walked over. Alexander slipped his arm around her waist, making sure everyone could see. "See? I'd never let my girlfriend be treated that way."

Chloe, who only moments ago had been so aggressive, was now on the verge of tears.

Sunny glanced at her stepsister, a hint of mockery flickering in her eyes.

She felt Stellan's voice rumble quietly in her ear, low and magnetic, the edges softened by an almost tender hush. "Sorry you had to put up with that."

"Alright, someone escort this uninvited guest out!"

Chloe's heart skipped a beat.

No, she couldn't let that happen! If she got thrown out now, her whole plan would go up in smoke.

Swallowing her pride, Chloe turned desperately to Sunny. "Sunny, I swear I have an invitation! Please, say something to Mr. Lawson for me—I really do have one!"

Sunny blinked at her, almost tempted to crack open Chloe's skull just to see if it was stuffed with cotton.

Moments ago, Chloe had been all too eager to have her kicked out. Now she was shamelessly begging for help.

Sunny certainly wasn't a saint—she had no intention of helping.

She tugged lightly on Stellan's cuff, her hand pale and delicate. "I don't know her," she said calmly.

Chloe's panic deepened. "Sunny, how could you say that?!"

Stellan was already signaling for two waiters to come over and remove Chloe when Evelyn finally arrived, late as ever.

Stellan scoffed lightly, as if to say, Good. At least you know when to back off.

He patted Sunny's hand. "Come on, let's go get you something to eat."

He'd already paid the price and had no interest in wasting time on a petty clown.

Sunny gave Vicky a playful wink before following Stellan out.

Alexander, growing impatient, shot Evelyn a warning glance. "Keep an eye on your guest. There won't be a next time."

With that, he ushered Vicky away, arm around her waist.

Evelyn dug her nails into her palm, her gaze lingering with envy on Alexander's hand at Vicky's waist.

Chloe's eyes burned with jealousy too.

How could Sunny be so lucky? She'd even broken off her engagement to Tristan, and yet here she was, landing someone even more powerful.

A glint of cold determination flashed in Chloe's eyes. Let Sunny enjoy her moment—once Chloe had Stellan's child, Sunny would be out of the picture for good.
