Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 14

She had a secret Twitter account, and the only person she followed was Luna.

Last time, she couldn't resist checking it, and forgot to switch back to her main account.

When she saw the notification dot on her following list, curiosity got the better of her. She clicked, and there it was—Luna's latest tweet, posted just five minutes ago:

"My brother gave me an Angel's Heart necklace as a welcome home present. Do you guys think it's pretty?"

Ha. So that Angel's Heart—the one that went for forty-seven million at Sotheby's last time—was bought by Tristan, after all.

A knock sounded at her door.

Sunny opened it reluctantly. Tristan stood there, one hand in his pocket, the other offering her a jewelry box. "Saw this at the mall on my business trip. Thought you might like it."

If Sunny hadn't just seen Luna's tweet, she might have thought for a moment that Tristan had finally grown a conscience.

But holding the jewelry box, the gesture felt almost mocking. She wasn't angry; instead, a faint, sardonic smile tugged at her lips. "You really shouldn't have. That must have cost you a fortune."

Tristan's brow creased, sensing the edge in her tone. "It wasn't a big deal. A few hundred thousand isn't exactly breaking the bank."

Sunny accepted the box and moved to close the door, but Tristan blocked her way.

She arched a brow. "Another gift?"

He gave a slight shrug. "No."

"Just a reminder: we're getting our marriage license tomorrow…"

Sunny glanced at her phone as a new text popped up: "Hey sis, are you really with Tristan? Don't you know Luna could have him running back to her with just a phone call?"

And then, right after sending it, the message was deleted.

Tristan sounded annoyed. "Sunny, I'm talking to you."

She met his eyes, half-amused. "Sorry, what were you saying?"

Sunny smiled gently. "Not a trip, Daisy. I'm moving out. I don't think I'll be coming back."

Daisy watched her leave, eyes wide with shock.

Was she joking? Or was she really never coming back?

"Luna, you need to be more careful. You know your health isn't great. Why don't you just stay at the old house?"

A single tear slipped from Luna's eye, landing on Tristan's hand.

Seeing Luna's tears glisten like pearls, Tristan felt a dull ache in his heart. "Luna, I'm not trying to scold you…"

She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. "I know, I know I'm useless. But what can I do?" Her voice grew quieter. "I know you're the only one in this family who actually cares about me."

Tristan set aside the cotton swab he'd been using and gently pulled her into his arms. "Hey, it's okay. Don't cry. I was too harsh just now. From now on, I'll look out for you, always."
