Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 140

Otherwise, why else would he be interested in Sunny?

Luna was still skeptical, a nagging sense of familiarity lingering as she watched the retreating figure.

"Come on, Luna. Didn't you say you wanted to check out the beds over there?"

Luna smiled, her doubts tucked away. "Alright, let's go."

As soon as Chloe got home, she couldn't wait to call her father.

"Dad, guess who I ran into at the mall today?"

Sean had just wrapped up a dinner meeting and was sitting in his car, massaging his temples. "Chloe, just get to the point."

"Dad, I saw Sunny with her new boyfriend! He's some guy who looked so much older. Dad, do you really think Sunny can still marry Tristan after this?"

Sean's eyes darkened. "Explain. What happened?"

"I saw Sunny shopping for furniture with this old guy. He was trying so hard to look young—dressed all casual—but you could tell he's up there in years."

Sean cut her off. "Did you see his face?"

"Well, not exactly, but even from behind it was obvious! He's got to be at least forty, maybe older. Forty-five, minimum!" Chloe rambled on, piling it on thick.

When she didn't hear her father respond right away, Chloe panicked, worried he wouldn't believe her. "Dad, I took pictures! I'll send them to you now—don't say I'm making this up!"

She quickly pulled up WhatsApp and sent over the photos.

As fate would have it, Sean had just heard at dinner about Stellan showing up at the parking lot today in a gray tracksuit.

His heart pounded as he opened the photos. His eyes widened in shock.

He recognized his daughter instantly from her silhouette. And the man beside her—wasn't that unmistakably Stellan?

Had his daughter really managed to win over Stellan?

A surge of excitement rose in Sean's chest. He kept his tone casual as he replied, "Alright, Chloe. Stop obsessing over your sister. I'm warning you—don't give her any trouble, you hear me?"

Chloe was stunned. Even now, her dad was still taking Sunny's side.

Fuming, she hung up on him without another word.

Back at her apartment, Luna hesitated for a moment, then called Tristan.

"Tristan, are you still working late at the office?"

His voice was cold. "Yeah. What do you want, Luna?"

"Oh, nothing. I just stopped by a furniture store today. Picked out a few new things for our place."

Tristan's eyes darkened. "We already have everything we need. There's no point buying more."

He'd forgotten that all the things Sunny once bought had been packed up and taken with her when she left.

Luna bit her lip, stifling a wave of resentment.

Parker understood at once and drove out of Miss Carrington's neighborhood.

Just as they turned onto the main road at the edge of the complex, Stellan glanced casually out the window—and his eyes caught a familiar license plate.

It looked like his nephew's car.

Stellan's expression turned unreadable. "Parker."

"Yes, Mr. Lawson?" Parker glanced up at the rearview mirror, puzzled.

"See that black car across the street? Plate ending in 923. Hit it."

Parker nearly thought he'd misheard. "Sir… what did you say?"

"I said hit it. Don't hurt anyone inside. Just the car."

Parker's hands trembled on the wheel. After a moment's hesitation, he gritted his teeth and stepped on the gas. "Yes, sir."

At that moment, Tristan, blinded by anger, suddenly saw a Maybach veer straight toward his car.

He jerked the wheel too late and slammed straight into the guardrail at the side of the road.

Cursing under his breath, Tristan struggled with his seatbelt. Who the hell drives like that?

He was about to get out and give the idiot a piece of his mind—until he caught sight of the license plate.

It was Uncle Stellan's car.
