Originally, Tristan had planned to visit Sunny, but after the chaos just now, he was in no mood for that anymore.
Something occurred to him, and with a puzzled look, he turned and asked, "Uncle Stellan, why were you on Linden Avenue earlier? Did you have business in that area?"
Stellan's lips curled into a faint smile. "I had a dinner meeting that just wrapped up, so I was heading home. Parker misread the GPS, took a wrong turn, and after I scolded him, he got flustered and accidentally bumped into your car."
So that was it—the doubt in Tristan's mind vanished instantly.
"Go ahead now, or you'll miss the doctor before he clocks out."
As Tristan walked away, Stellan watched his retreating figure, then pulled out his phone and made a call.
A gentle female voice answered, tinged with surprise. "Uncle Stellan?"
"Luna, are you free to come to the ER at Capitol General? Tristan was just in a car accident. If you have time, maybe look after him for a bit."
"A car accident?" Luna cried, alarmed. "Is Tristan alright?"
"He's fine, just waiting for a brain scan. My driver took a wrong turn onto Linden Avenue and didn't see his car at the corner. It was just a careless accident. Don't worry too much, just take a cab over."
Linden Avenue?
Luna's expression darkened.
But when she'd called Tristan earlier, hadn't he said he was working late at the office?
If her memory served, Linden Avenue was near Sunny's place.
"Alright, Uncle Stellan, I understand. I'll be right there!"
Honestly, where else could you find an uncle as considerate as Stellan?
Luna arrived quickly, just as Tristan was finishing his MRI.
"Tristan, I was worried, so I asked Luna to come. I figured you'd get annoyed if I hovered around the hospital myself, so she'll keep you company instead. Let me know as soon as you get your results, alright? Don't make me worry."
Parker, standing off to the side, pinched his thigh to keep from laughing.
Luna spoke up, "Uncle Stellan, don't worry. I'm here at the hospital. I'll take care of Tristan."
Only then did Stellan leave, perfectly satisfied, quietly proud of his handiwork.
The moment he stepped outside, he shot Parker an approving look. "Good work today. I'll triple your salary this month as your reward. Nicely done."
Her barrage of questions made his heart feel strangely warm, as if a soft feather brushed against it—ticklish, but comforting.
He cleared his throat, feigning weakness. "I'm fine, just a minor injury. Nothing to worry about."
"Are you sure?" Sunny sounded genuinely concerned. "Do you need me to come over?"
If the accident had happened because he was dropping her off, she couldn't help feeling a little guilty.
Stellan couldn't hide the smile tugging at his lips. "Really, I'm okay. Just a scratch. But if you don't mind, I'd love some soup tomorrow. My housekeeper's taking the day off, and the doctor said I should stick to something light."
"I'll bring you some first thing in the morning!"
Stellan's tone turned sly. "No need to rush—bring it by in the evening instead. After work is fine."
"Alright! I'll get off early and bring it over."
As soon as the call ended, Stellan dialed his housekeeper. "Take tomorrow off, would you? Yes, the whole day."
"Why? No reason. If you really need one, let's just say I'm in a good mood."
