Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 196

Stellan shot Jude Pierce a frosty look, his voice laced with sarcasm. "What do you think?"

His gaze lingered on the slender figure sprinting away, a contemplative look crossing his face.

Just like last time—once the darkness closed in, she completely lost control.

He could still sense her delicate fragrance clinging to his fingertips. Without thinking, he brought his hand to his nose and inhaled.

Of course, that's when Jude Pierce happened to catch his boss in this peculiar moment.

Their eyes met. Silence stretched between them.

A chill ran down Jude's spine. "Mr. Lawson, I'll head up to the fifth floor. Take care."

Without waiting for a reply, he hurried straight for the stairs.

God, the man was terrifying. Jude couldn't shake the feeling that one day, he'd be silenced for seeing too much.

No way—he needed to cozy up to Mrs. Lawson if he wanted to survive in this office.

Who would've thought their stony-faced boss would turn out to be so utterly whipped?

Sunny darted into the parking garage, breath coming fast.

Why was Stellan so unpredictable? One moment he was ice-cold, the next he was pulling her into his arms as if she was the most precious thing in the world.

His cool scent still lingered on her skin—a strange mix of hot and cold that left her flustered and confused.

"Sunny! There was a blackout just now—was your elevator stuck?" Wyatt's voice came out of nowhere behind her, making her jump.

"Boss," Sunny said, exasperated, "do you always sneak around like that?"

Wyatt blinked. "Do I? You looked miles away just now. What's on your mind?"

"It's nothing." She pulled open the passenger side door and slid into the car.

Wyatt got in, shooting her a sideways glance. "You feeling alright? Your face is pretty red."

"I'm fine." Sunny rolled the window down. "It's just a little stuffy today—looks like it might rain."

"Yeah, the forecast said heavy storms." Wyatt started the car. "By the way, you never told me—what happened with the elevator during the blackout?"

"It was fine," Sunny replied, turning to watch the city blur past outside. "Manager Pierce was in there too. He called maintenance and they got it working again pretty quickly."

Jude Pierce again? Why did that guy pop up everywhere?

Wyatt frowned. He'd already warned that man to stay away, so why was he still hanging around his protégé?

The thought of Sunny alone in the elevator with Jude made Wyatt's skin crawl.

"Fine, I'll come by later."

"Great!" Alexander added quickly, "And don't bring your girlfriend. It's guys only tonight!"

Stellan's lips twitched. "Alright."

The moment he hung up, he dialed a certain "heartless bunny" who'd just left him behind.

When Sunny saw his name flash on her phone, she slipped into the restroom to answer. "Hello?"

"Are you at the office?" Stellan's voice was low and unhurried.

"Yeah, I just got here."

"You finishing work at the usual time tonight?" he asked, catching her off guard.

She hesitated. "Yeah, regular time."

"Good. I'll pick you up after work. We're going to a friend's get-together."

Sunny hesitated. "Stellan, I don't really know your friends…"

"They're all people you've met—Alexander and the rest. Ever since we got our marriage certificate, they've been hounding me to introduce them to my wife."
