Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 30

At Sunny's mocking words, both Tristan and Luna's expressions shifted.

"Sunny, you've got it all wrong," Luna protested quickly. "I'm only here because Mom asked me to bring soup to Tristan—he was just in that accident two days ago, and she wanted him to have something nourishing. I didn't know Tristan had invited you too…"

What a thoughtful little stepsister. Sunny almost wanted to gag at Luna's sweetness.

"Luna," Tristan interjected, his voice frosty, "you don't need to explain yourself to her for coming to see me at work."

He turned his glare on Sunny, his eyes cold as winter ice. "But you—Sunny, I haven't even settled accounts with you for what happened yesterday! Look at what you did—Luna could have been seriously burned! You deliberately hurt my sister. I'm telling you right now: apologize to her. Now."

Sunny snorted, glancing at Luna's so-called injury—a tiny red spot, no bigger than a dime, barely visible compared to the marks on her own neck.

"Oh, Mr. Lawson, maybe I should give you a crash course in legal basics," she drawled. "Assault only counts if you cause actual bodily harm—second-degree or worse—before they'll even file a report. If you're so worried, why don't you drag poor Miss Bennett to the ER for an exam right now? Wait too long and her little wound might just miraculously heal."

"And by the way," Sunny continued, her tone sharp, "at worst, what happened yesterday was a public disturbance. But let's be real: your precious Miss Bennett and her bestie started it. If they hadn't come looking for trouble with me, none of it would've happened."

She tucked her hair behind her ear, eyes glinting with challenge. "So maybe you should tell your darling sister to keep her distance from me from now on. For her own good."

Her words left both Tristan and Luna thunderstruck, their faces darkening like storm clouds.

"Sunny Carrington," Tristan growled, his handsome features carved in ice. "You—you're unbelievable. Throwing hot water at Luna? How vicious can you get?"

She gave a theatrical little bow. "There, I said it again. Your turn?"

Luna bit her lip, her face flushing red then paling. There was no way she could bring herself to say something so crude and low.

Tristan's jaw clenched so hard he looked like he might crack a molar. Three seconds—how dare she!

Who the hell did Sunny think she was?

Sunny just rolled her eyes, scoffing. "Ugh, cowards. I'm done here—bye."
