For tonight's dinner, Sunny had carefully chosen a blue suit—mature, but with just enough flair to show her personality.
She caught her reflection in the mirror and gave herself a little fist pump for encouragement.
For her grandmother's sake, she was determined to help Attorney Glenn secure this contract.
Dinner was set for the Golden Age restaurant.
Wyatt brought two associates with him: Sunny, and another attorney named Xander.
He knew Sunny's stomach couldn't handle much alcohol, so he'd made sure to bring someone who could drink on her behalf if needed.
Representing Lawson Corporation were Jude Pierce, the manager, two members from the investment team, and an assistant director from finance—essentially the company's core leadership.
"Attorney Glenn, I've heard so much about you," Jude Pierce said, reaching out to shake Wyatt's hand before turning his attention to Sunny and Xander.
With his usual confidence, Wyatt made the introductions. "These are the two brightest attorneys on my team. This is young Attorney Carrington, and this is Lawyer Fletcher."
Sunny's nerves were rattling inside, but she kept her composure. "Good evening, Manager Pierce. I'm Sunny."
Jude nodded, a wry smile tugging at his lips. "Impressive. Attorney Carrington, you don't look a day over twenty-two."
Sunny replied, steady and respectful, "Actually, Manager Pierce, I'm already twenty-six."
Wyatt jumped in to sing his protégé's praises. "She was top of her class at law school, stayed on for her graduate degree, and although she's still considered junior-level, she'll be eligible for mid-level accreditation next year."
A twenty-six-year-old up for mid-level attorney status—no small feat.
Jude couldn't help but give her a second look.
As the meal got underway, Wyatt and Jude steered the conversation, until Charles, one of the investment managers, called a waiter over with a laugh. "Everyone here can handle a drink, right?"
His gaze lingered on Sunny. "How about you, Attorney Carrington—can you drink?"
Wyatt raised his own glass to kick things off, and Charles turned to Sunny with a twinkle in his eye.
"To our lovely Attorney Carrington—I simply must toast our star lawyer tonight."
Sunny was no rookie; she'd learned to take a few jokes about her looks in stride.
Without missing a beat, she lifted her glass. "Manager Charles, the honor's mine—I should be the one to toast you."
She took a generous sip, her confident manner putting Charles in a great mood. "Attorney Glenn, you've got a real gem on your team!"
Wyatt's mouth twitched. "She's a real talent, especially for her age. Manager Charles, don't let her youth fool you—she's the most capable young attorney we have."
Sunny suddenly remembered she'd forgotten to take her hangover pills. Her stomach churned, but she forced a smile. "It's all thanks to our boss for giving me opportunities and believing in me."
"Come on, now," said another middle-aged man from the investment team, getting to his feet. "Such a promising young attorney—I have to have a drink with you as well, Attorney Carrington."
