Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 131

But the girl in front of them hadn’t done anything—she’d merely glanced at a photo, and suddenly she was like this.

To make matters worse, as her breathing quickened, she started gasping for air, her mind slipping away.

Camila Davis jumped to her feet, grabbing her emergency medical kit. With practiced hands, she pressed a few acupuncture points—techniques she’d learned during her residency in Boston. Gradually, the girl’s breathing eased.

Helen Adams blinked, coming back to herself.

Sophia Miller, worry etched all over her face, asked, “Ms. Davis, is Helen going to be okay?”

Camila didn’t answer right away. She frowned, deep in thought.

From her initial assessment, it seemed Helen’s pituitary gland was acting up, causing an immune response—hence the fever and all the rest.

This wasn’t something to take lightly.

“I can’t make any promises yet,” Camila said at last. “I’ll need some time to work out a treatment plan. But, Mrs. Miller, since I’m here, I’ll do everything I can to help Helen. For now, I’ve stabilized her. Just—don’t show her any more photos, okay?”

Sophia nodded, a little disappointed but not upset. After all, it was better to be safe.

Later that evening, Camila headed home, immediately poring over her medical journals and online databases.

By sundown, she’d mapped out a tentative treatment plan.

She drove back to the Adams’ house.

Sophia was surprised to see her so soon. “Already? You figured something out?”

Camila nodded. “It’s worth a try.”

Though still skeptical, Sophia let Helen cooperate.

This time, Camila drew a hot bath for Helen—lavender-scented bubbles and all. Once Helen was warm and relaxed, Camila started her treatment: a blend of Western acupressure and gentle needling, using sterile, single-use medical pins.

She worked methodically, targeting over twenty pressure points.

Only then did she nod to Sophia. “Alright. Bring out the photo.”

Sophia hesitated, clearly nervous, but complied.

An hour passed. Helen didn’t break out in a fever, nor did she panic. In fact, she looked better than she had in weeks.

Sophia stared in disbelief. “Wait—she’s… she’s better?”

Camila grinned. “Not quite. The symptoms are under control, but we’ve got to keep this up for a month if we want a lasting result.”

Sophia and Helen both lit up. “A month? She’ll be cured?”
