Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 188

At that moment, inside The Smith Group’s downtown office tower—

Jordan Smith stared at the photos, fury bubbling up inside him. He’d never imagined, not even in his worst nightmares, that Camila Davis would have the nerve to wear a bikini and be out on the beach, laughing and splashing around with another man.

Even though the pictures were taken from a distance and a little blurry, Jordan could still make out Camila walking side-by-side with a guy, both of them barefoot in the surf, playing with a golden retriever. The man stood nearby, while little Lillian was crouched next to him, building a sandcastle with a bright pink bucket.

Camila looked completely at ease, smiling wide, the ocean breeze in her hair. Jordan felt his blood pressure spike.

Unbelievable. She’s not just cozying up to some guy, she even brought Lillian along as cover!

How dare she? Did she even remember she was a married woman?

“Camila Davis, just where did you get the guts?”

Jordan shot up from his chair, grabbed his suit jacket, and stormed out of his office.

“Get the car, now,” he barked at his assistant, Nathan Gates.

Nathan, seeing the stormy look on his boss’s face, didn’t dare ask questions. “Yes, sir!” he replied, practically sprinting out.

Minutes later, a sleek black BMW tore away from The Smith Group’s glass doors, headed straight for Riverside.

Meanwhile, back at the Davis villa, Camila was helping Lillian change out of her swimsuit. As they stepped into the living room, Aaron—the family’s head of security—was leading someone inside.

Dennis Williams, in a crisp black shirt and tailored slacks, lounged on the sofa. He looked impossibly relaxed, legs crossed, long fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest. His cool, commanding presence filled the room.

“So, who’s this?” Dennis asked, voice calm but with an edge that made it clear he was not someone to mess with.

The private investigator, sweating bullets, stammered. Anyone could see this guy was someone important—maybe even more intimidating than Jordan Smith.
