Previously, when Susan was around, she’d tried her hand at making it, but the taste was miles off—the kind Mr. Smith would never like!
Jordan Smith froze in place.
Wait, all those stews… Camila Davis made them herself?
Seeing his stunned look, the butler couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
Looks like… Mr. Smith never knew, did he?
How oblivious do you have to be not to notice your wife putting in all that effort?

Meanwhile, Camila Davis had no clue about any of this.
She and Dennis Williams finished dinner together, and by the time they wrapped up, it was already past eight.
Ever the gentleman, Dennis insisted on driving Camila and her daughter Lillian right back to their front door.
As she hopped out of the car, Camila turned to the backseat with her usual gratitude. “Thank you so much for tonight, Mr. Williams. You went above and beyond for Lillian.”
Half of Dennis’s face was hidden in the shadows, the other half caught in the glow of the streetlamp. The light traced the sharp lines of his handsome features, and tiny flecks of light danced in his deep-set eyes, like a swatch of starlit sky.
He glanced at her, his voice cool but tinged with amusement. “Ms. Davis, you sure like saying thanks, don’t you? I think I’ve heard it at least ten times today. Didn’t you already buy me dinner? Isn’t that enough?”
“Oh…” Camila was caught off guard, not sure how to reply.
To her, a meal could hardly make up for everything he’d done for Lillian. No matter how much she tried, she always felt she owed him more.
Reading her mind, Dennis’s voice softened. “Well, if one meal doesn’t cut it, you can always invite me for more. I won’t say no.”
“Huh?”
