Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 204

That night, dinner was cut short because of the unexpected incident.

Camila Davis didn’t stick around for long—she said her goodbyes and left soon after.

Two weeks later, the upgraded version of the “Miracle” drug finally hit the market.

But on the day of the launch, Camila didn’t bother to show up. Honestly, she didn’t see the point—she’d finished developing that upgrade years ago. It just didn’t feel like a big deal anymore.

Walter Wilson didn’t force her, either. He just called after the press conference with some more good news. “Hey, about that system you designed—after we got it integrated into our medical devices, I had the folks at my family’s private hospital run some clinical trials. The chief of medicine and the whole expert team loved it. They’ve already started recommending it all over the place.

Over the last few days, more and more hospitals have picked up the system. Just like you said, it’s a huge success. There’s nothing else like it out there. Thanks to your system, hospitals have managed to pull off several hard-to-crack surgeries that would’ve been nearly impossible before. Now the word’s gotten out—orders are coming in left and right.”

Camila almost dropped her coffee. “Wait—what? Already?!”

She’d expected it to take at least a few months to catch on. But here they were, barely two weeks in.

She knew Walter must’ve pulled a ton of strings, but still… it was way faster than she’d imagined.

Walter, though, was as cool as ever. “Did you think I was joking when I said it’d happen fast? Camila, you know who you’re talking to.”

He’d been running The Wilson Group for years and handled way tougher projects. With a product this good, if he couldn’t get it out there, he’d have to hand in his “Mr. Wilson” badge.

Camila grinned and gave him a thumbs-up. “Mr. Wilson, you’re a legend. The Smith Group wouldn’t last a week without you.”

Walter smirked, chin tilted up. “You haven’t seen anything yet. Orders are so backed up, our production line’s booked out for six months—and the list just keeps growing…”

He paused, his tone growing serious. “Camila, all your hard work paid off.”

Those words hit Camila harder than she expected. When she’d first started developing the system, she’d dreamed of showing it to Jordan Smith, imagined his pride, maybe even a little recognition.
