Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 219

Dennis Williams’s eyes glinted with a quiet intensity as he lifted his glass and clinked it gently against hers.

The crisp ring echoed through the air, so pleasing it seemed to wash away the evening’s earlier troubles.

After dinner, Dennis insisted on driving everyone home himself.

By the time they reached their building, Mr. and Mrs. Davis’s opinion of him had soared.

As they made their way inside, Melissa George couldn’t help but murmur, “Mr. Williams is such a catch—well-mannered, successful, the total package. Whoever ends up marrying him is one lucky woman.”

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

When Lucas Smith was brought in for examination, the Smith family got the call right away.

Barbara and her husband rushed over, and by the time they arrived, Lucas was already sitting up, able to speak—though most of what he said was a string of curses aimed squarely at Camila Davis.

“That bitch, I swear she won’t get away with this. Once I’m better, I’ll make her pay…”

Barbara Jones was still trying to process who had made her youngest son so angry. But when she saw his swollen face and split lip, she was stunned.

“Lucas, what the hell happened to you? Who did this?”

Jordan Smith, trailing behind his parents, took in his younger brother’s battered state with a deepening frown.

Someone in Harrisburg had the nerve to do this to his brother?

Lucas spat, “Who else? Camila Davis, that slut. She brought some random guy and they both jumped me—knocked me to the ground, almost broke my hand! My face and mouth—she did this!”

“What?!”

Barbara exploded. “That woman—how dare she?”

Jordan’s expression darkened.
