Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 229

Still, he couldn’t stop thinking about getting back at the Smith family.

Jordan Smith was in a foul mood, pacing restlessly in his living room. He finally strode over to his liquor cabinet, poured himself a generous glass of bourbon, and knocked it back in one go.

A few more shots later, with his head buzzing, he pulled out his phone and dialed Sandra Taylor. “Come over,” he said, his voice low.

Sandra didn’t need to be asked twice. She’d been hoping for a chance to spend more time with him, and she was at Jordan’s house in no time.

The moment she walked in, she saw him—Jordan, clearly tipsy, a little disheveled but still devastatingly handsome. Her heart did a little flip.

He’s drinking like this and calls me over? If that’s not an invitation, what is?

If something were to happen tonight, maybe Jordan would finally leave Camila Davis. Sandra couldn’t help but smile to herself at the thought.

She walked over, the picture of concern. “Jordan, are you okay? You shouldn’t be drinking so much. Why don’t I help you upstairs so you can lie down?”

Jordan squinted at her, his gaze sharp despite the alcohol. “Tell me something,” he said quietly. “Years ago, why did you marry someone else? If I hadn’t found out about that, I never would’ve married Camila.”

Sandra froze for a split second. She hadn’t expected him to bring up the past. Back in Harrisburg, everyone knew she and Jordan were the golden couple—childhood sweethearts, perfect for each other.

But Jordan had always been so focused on his studies and running the Smith Group, he never really knew how to have fun. Meanwhile, Sandra had started craving attention—and she got plenty of it on her trips abroad, meeting all sorts of charming, exciting guys. She’d always figured Jordan was so devoted, she could do whatever she wanted and still end up as Mrs. Smith.
