Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 264

“What did you just say?”

Ms. Reed and Mr. Reed froze in disbelief.

Gary Reed frowned deeply. “Wait, you’re not even a med school grad? Then how the hell are you leading a team to develop a new miracle drug? That’s reckless—a lawsuit waiting to happen!”

Sandra Taylor’s nerves were shot, but she forced a calm expression. “My team? They’re all from top medical schools.”

Jordan Smith jumped in, trying to smooth things over. “Sandra might not be a doctor or a pharmacist, but she’s worked in healthcare for years.”

Camila Davis wasn’t having it. Her words were sharp, her tone icy. “Mr. Smith, you’re a businessman—ever heard the phrase ‘stick to what you know’? Sandra’s whole background is in hospital administration. She wouldn’t know a chemical compound from a can of beans. And you’re letting her run the drug R&D department at Smith Group, one of the biggest companies in the country? Are you seriously not worried about lawsuits or, you know, people dying?”

She glanced at Mr. Reed. “If I hadn’t been here today, Mr. Reed probably wouldn’t have made it.”

Sandra bristled, feeling the tide turning against her.

This partnership between Smith Group and the Reeds was supposed to be a done deal. But now, thanks to Camila Davis crashing the party, everything was unraveling. If Camila hadn’t stepped in, so what if something happened to Mr. Reed? The Smith Group could’ve just blamed it on a rare side effect and moved on.

But because Camila had saved the old man’s life, the Reeds weren’t grateful—they were furious about the faulty medication. Sandra glared at Camila, seething.

That witch is ruining everything!

Sandra gritted her teeth, barely keeping her frustration in check. “Camila, stop acting like you’re better than everyone else! So, yes, I’m not a pharmacist, but our miracle drug was cleared by a panel of experts. Are you accusing us of faking that?”
