Camila Davis blinked and asked, “Compensation is fine, but what more can we do about Sandra Taylor? She’s already been arrested by the cops. Can she really get it any worse?”
Walter Wilson smirked. “Oh, there’s still plenty of room to make her life miserable. For starters, we could make sure she spends a couple extra nights in jail. Don’t forget, last time she got that shrink to try to set up Lillian. If we don’t kick her while she’s down, we’d be missing a real opportunity.”
Camila just shrugged. “Go for it. Whatever you want to do, just handle it. No need to check in with me. But listen—one thing—we still haven’t found the mole in our team. We need to sort that out fast, or who knows what could happen…”
Walter nodded. “I’m already on it. I have a pretty good lead—it’s probably Timothy.”
Camila’s eyes widened. “Timothy? Seriously? Him?”
Timothy had only joined them recently. She remembered he’d just graduated from a top university in the States. When he first started, he seemed totally lost with their research system. He’d even come to her for help, looking like a total computer rookie.
Her impression of him had always been: smart, sure, but not exactly a tech whiz. Now Walter was saying he was the traitor?
Walter let out a cold laugh. “He covered his tracks well. But my background check found he actually double-majored in college, and spent three years in computer science. He’s damn good with computers. The only reason he didn’t finish that degree was some mysterious incident his senior year.”
“When he applied, he left all that out of his resumé. I’d bet money it was all part of the plan from the start.”
Camila frowned. “No one could’ve seen this coming. Just goes to show Sandra Taylor always thinks two steps ahead—she must’ve planted him here when she was hiring. But at least we’ve got him now. However you want to handle it, just do it. He can’t stay with us another day.”
Walter nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ll deal with him. Anyone who tries to mess with The Smith Group is finished in Harrisburg—and probably the whole industry.”
After they hung up, Walter wasted no time. Timothy was fired that very day, and a call went out to every company in Harrisburg: he was blacklisted for good.
Meanwhile, The Smith Group’s legal team received a letter from Camila’s side. The letter accused The Smith Group of stealing proprietary “miracle” research, causing massive losses, and demanded $100 million in damages.
