Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 317

“Ms. Davis, do you want to head up front? The view’s way better there!”

The bodyguard noticed Camila standing still, a touch of concern in his voice.

Camila Davis snapped out of her daze and shook her head. “No, thanks. I’m good right here.”

The main area was packed, and as soon as Dennis Williams stopped, a bunch of the SWAT guys looked like they were dying to approach him, hoping to get some pointers.

In no time, he was surrounded.

He stood there, almost untouchable, the center of everyone’s attention.

The scene reminded her of something she’d witnessed in Cabinda. That same sense of distance and being out of place washed over her again. Whether it was a fancy charity gala or a solemn training ground like this, she always felt like they were from two totally different worlds.

For a moment, she just couldn’t bring herself to move forward.

Dennis Williams hadn’t even noticed her arrival. He just glanced at Steven Edwards and asked, cool as ever, “So, you convinced yet?”

Steven grinned, setting his rifle down. “Convinced. I thought you’d be rusty after some time off, but I seriously underestimated you. I lost, fair and square.”

He didn’t hesitate for a second to admit it. After all those shooting drills, Dennis had wiped the floor with him. This guy was as terrifyingly good—and weird—as ever.

But since he’d finally dragged Dennis out here, Steven figured he might as well make the most of it.

He turned to the rest and announced, “Well, since you’re not busy, how about giving these guys a few tips? Let them see the real gap between good and great.”

Dennis didn’t look interested. He was about to say no, but Steven was relentless.
