Camila Davis couldn't believe it—Sandra Taylor was still the queen of twisting facts. Camila felt her anger rising and was about to shoot her down.

But before she could say a word, Lawrence Walker, who’d been listening nearby, suddenly stepped in.

He stared at Sandra, looking genuinely shocked. “Did you just say she doesn’t have any talent for painting?”

Sandra nodded, sighing theatrically. “Yeah, I mean, to be honest, I know the kid too. She’s been dealing with pretty severe autism—never really leaves the house, gets therapy at home. Of course, if you’re alone all day, you might doodle random stuff, but…professionally…” She trailed off, as if struggling to find the right words.

Lawrence saw right through her little performance, and it made him instantly dislike her.

He laughed out loud. “Are you kidding me? Your son only took second place in the Harrisburg Art Fair. Lillian here? She won first place in the National Art Competition months ago. I was one of the judges, for crying out loud! And you’re telling me she has no talent?”

“What?!”

Sandra’s mind went totally blank.

Did she hear that right? Did the old guy just say Lillian won the national first prize? Lillian? The autistic kid?

No way. She simply couldn’t believe it.

Sandra’s eyes darted to the little girl standing quietly next to Camila. She looked just as ordinary as always. How could this kid possibly be some art prodigy?

But…something about her eyes seemed different than a few months ago.

Still, there was just no way she could have improved that much, that fast…

Sandra shook her head, unable to accept it.

Even Christian Stewart, standing nearby, looked stunned. After a long pause, he finally asked, “Mr. Walker, are you…are you serious?”

Little Camila had won a national first prize?

Lawrence, seeing their dumbfounded faces, finally smiled in satisfaction. “Of course! Why else do you think I’m here today? I came specifically to see little Camila. She’s the most gifted young artist I’ve seen in years!”

“That’s impossible!” Sandra practically shrieked.
