‘Braden is getting someone to look at her. Both of you stay with her. Watch everything they do to her. We need to know what she was drugged with,’ I tell her.
I hear a noise at the top of the stairs and turn to see Dr. Charles returning with a stretcher.
I walk up to help him carry it down, then step out of his way while he steps into the cell.
While he looks at Nancy, I move to the others in the cells.
“Well, we know that Dorian here seems to know nothing, what about you, Corey? Do you know anything about what happened last night” I ask him….
He shrugs, just as arrogantly as Dorian did. “I was asleep. I didn’t hear anything.”
“And you, Violet?” I ask, turning to her. “Do you know anything?”
I watch her glance toward Dorian out of the corner of her eye before shaking her head no. I stare at her a moment longer, then turn back to Dr. Charles.
“What have you got?”
“Based on her temperature and rigor, I’d say time of death was between midnight and twelve thirty last night.”
I turn to Reuben and the two other guards. “What time did you come on duty this morning?”
“Four o’clock,” they say.
“Did you notice anything unusual about Gabriel or Judith when you took over?” I ask. Since I have more trust in Reuben, I watch the other two.
The first warrior, Caleb, shakes his head no. The other, Jack who was previously in the cells for attacking me, looks at him frowning.
“Jack? Did you notice something off?” I ask.
“Nah, he’s tough as nails,” Caleb says,
“Alpha, I’d like to get Nancy to the pack hospital so I can run more tests on her,” Dr. Charles says./

I look at my father and Shane. “I need one of you to stay with Dr. Charles.”
“I’ll go. The council will be here soon. Shane, you need to be available to meet with them,” my father says.
