The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 388

Crystal saw their resolve wavering and quickly pressed her case. “Relax. As long as you follow my plan, no one will ever find out. I’ll help you with inside information—where those four kids are, what their schedules look like. And trust me, the Thomsons will pay up to get those kids back.”

Borg still looked uneasy. “No. This is too risky…”

Crystal cut him off, her voice urgent. “If you’re after money, you can’t be afraid of risk. Either way, kidnapping me is a crime—kidnapping them is the same. So why not go after the bigger prize? Snatch those four brats, and not only do you have a better shot at success, but you’ll get a much bigger ransom.”

Cedric weighed her words, then turned to Borg. “She’s got a point. There’s always danger in our line of work. But this kind of opportunity doesn’t come around often. If we’re careful, we can pull it off.”

Borg frowned, silent as he mulled it over.

If they really went through with this, they’d be directly crossing the Thomsons. That was no small thing. But Crystal’s argument made sense. They were already walking a tightrope—taking one step further wouldn’t make much difference now.

Besides, those four kids were the Thomsons’ darlings. The odds of getting a huge payout were much higher with them. They could ask for whatever they wanted.

After a long pause, Borg clenched his jaw and nodded. “Fine. We’ll do it her way.”

Crystal finally breathed a sigh of relief when they agreed to her plan.

As long as she survived, that’s all that mattered.

As for those four little bastards—well, it was time for Rebecca to find out what true helplessness felt like.

...
