Miles noticed Mirabella's face darken, and it hit him just how foolish his words had been. He quickly cleared his throat and tried to backtrack, “I just didn’t expect someone so young to be...”
“To be a woman?” Mirabella shot him a glance, “Do you have something against women?”
“No, not at all!” Miles hurriedly defended himself.
Even though this was his first time meeting her in person, the youthful appearance couldn't hide the impressive presence she had. It was impossible to see her as just any woman.
Especially when she was the reason for his success.
Without her, The Mirror wouldn’t exist.
Miles coughed again, trying to steer the conversation back on track, “By the way, what's your connection to the Davis family?”
“Have you heard about Miss Mira from the Davis family who just got back?” Mirabella said, calm as ever.
Miles nodded. As soon as Mirabella reached out to him, he had Toby fetch her while he dug into the Davis family’s background. What he found about Ms. Mirabella was simply unremarkable.
Just an ordinary figure.
Miles' eyes went wide in surprise as he looked at Mirabella, blurting out, “You’re not actually that Miss Mira, are you?”
For a top-notch hacker, wiping away any trace of her identity was a breeze.
Mirabella shrugged and offered a wry smile, “I am.”
Miles was dumbfounded: “!!!”
He quickly racked his brain, trying to remember if he'd ever crossed the Davis family. Once he confirmed he hadn’t, his racing heart finally settled down.
“From now on, whatever matters to the Davis family, matters to me,” Miles proclaimed, pounding his chest with determination.
