The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1884

The old butler glanced up towards the second floor as he responded to her query about Miss Mira, "Normally, Miss Mira would be up and about, exercising by now. Maybe she had a late night; she hasn't come down yet today."

Nellie knitted her brows at this. Rea was always so disciplined and wouldn't just skip her routine because of a late night.

Just then, Jim made his way down the stairs, taking his time. Catching sight of the two, he approached and asked, "What's the conversation about?"

The old butler quickly called out for Keir and then clarified, "Oh, it's nothing major, just curious why Miss Mira hasn't come downstairs yet."

Hearing this, Jim glanced at Nellie, a shadow of concern crossing his eyes. That morning, he had gotten two messages. One was a goodbye text from his niece, saying she had already returned to her home country. The other urged him to keep an eye on Nellie and not let her leave the Davis family, warning of possible regrets if he did.

The meaning behind his niece's second message was unclear, but Jim sensed some unspoken understanding between Nellie and his niece, like they were old friends.

Gathering himself, Jim said, "Mira had an urgent project at her school, so she took an early flight back."

Hearing "back home," Nellie quickly turned to Jim, "You said she went back?"

Jim noticed her reaction, and the weight of his niece's message felt heavier, but he nodded, "...Yes."

The missing black jade, Rea's sudden departure... Nellie’s expression shifted multiple times.

She took a step back, preparing to head upstairs.

But Jim caught her arm, "Nellie?"

Nellie turned, urgency in her voice, "I have to go back too."
