What do you mean? You’re not coming home tonight?Halsey asked.

+25 BONUS

Shaun had to stay at the office to deal with Sierra. Yeah, I won’t be able to come home tonight. You should go to bed early.

Halsey pouted a little. Money isn’t everything, and it’s not like I plan to stay at home. I can earn money, too, so you don’t have to work so hard.

Shaun smirked. Are you trying to say you miss me?

Halsey’s voice was sweet. I want to cuddle with you while I sleep.

Hearing her coo like that made Shaun melt. Since Halsey had gotten pregnant, they hadn’t been able to share much intimacy, so even the smallest little gesture made him react.

I want to cuddle with you and the baby, too,Shaun said, holding the phone, but there’s an emergency at the office tonight. I can’t leave.

Halsey’s smile faded. Okaybut you have to make sure you get some rest, too.

Alright.

They hung up, and Halsey lay on the bed alone. With Shaun not home, the room felt unusually quiet.

She didn’t want to disturb him, so she placed her hand on her growing belly. Daddy’s busy tonight. Let’s sleep on our own.

The baby kicked in her stomach as if to tell Halsey that they were going to be okay.

Halsey smiled, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep.

Shaun hung up the phone, and Warren got up, grinning. You and Ms. Mallin are way too sappy. If we didn’t need to deal with Sierra, I’d have left the room.

Shaun put his phone away. A single man like you wouldn’t understand. This is a married man’s happiness- you wouldn’t get it.

Warren was speechless. Even being single seemed like a sin now. It was too much!

Let’s focus on solving the issue with Sierra,Warren said.

Shaun sat down. Alright.

The next morning, Halsey woke up in bed and checked the time. It was seven in the morning.

Even though Shaun wasn’t home, she had slept pretty well.

She got ready and went out.

Jocelyn had prepared a hearty breakfast. Good morning, Mrs. Lane. Breakfast is ready.

Halsey sat down at the table. Thanks, Jocelyn.

She took a sip of milk.

Just then, a cheerful ringtone sounded.

Was it Shaun calling?
