Kayla took slow, deliberate steps toward Miranda, a low laugh escaping her lips.

“Miranda, you’re always going on about rules and manners. If you’re such a stickler for them, then how did you end up seducing a married man, destroying someone else’s family, and giving birth to Davon, your little bastard!” Kayla sneered.

Kayla hit the word “bastard” extra hard, making sure it landed like a slap. She knew exactly what Miranda’s biggest trigger was–being called the other woman, and having Davon labeled a bastard. That was why Kayla aimed straight for it.
