Tristian howled in pain as Kayla’s fists kept landing on him. She’d completely lost it, and every punch felt like she genuinely wanted to kill him. He couldn’t even defend himself properly.

Tristian had no choice but to try blocking her attacks while yelling at Bailee, “Mom, are you seriously just gonna stand there and watch Kayla go psycho? If Ruby saw someone beating me up like this, she’d never just stand by and do nothing. Are you even my real mom?”

Tristian’s voice snapped Bailee out of her daze. Her eyes slowly came back into focus.

Bailee looked at the chaos unfolding before her and blinked back the tears burning in her eyes. When she spoke, her voice was much calmer than before. “Kay, stop.”

Kayla’s eyes were red and swollen, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Bailee. “Mom, just let me beat this ungrateful bastard to death today!”

Tristian’s such scum. He doesn’t even deserve to be human, Kayla thought furiously. ‘I should send him straight to hell and let him reincarnate as an animal where he belongs.’
