Chapter 284 Turning the Tables (Part One)
Very quickly, Amelia’s skills and calm way of handling people won over the company again, earning her widespread respect and admiration.
The rare herbs in the glass greenhouse–once infested and dying–were now thriving better than ever after she removed the pests.
On top of that, the special potion and fertilizer she personally developed produced instant, visible results.
And that extinct herb she had gifted? That alone had everyone talking.
“Ms. Amelia is incredible. Mr. Raymond should’ve brought her back long ago.”
“If she’d returned sooner, Nygard Group would’ve reached new heights by now. Our year–end bonuses would be through the roof!”
“Honestly, out of the four Nygard siblings, she’s the one who truly takes after Mr. Conrad. She’s inherited his brains and his talent.”
“Yeah, and compared to her, Gianna doesn’t look so great anymore. Sure, she revived the plantations at the base, but the potion she used still damaged the soil and herbs.”
“It may not look serious now, but Dr. Hayes said he studied that potion carefully. It might save dying herbs, but the side effects are huge.”
“Right. Once this harvest is over, that land won’t produce anything else. It’s completely useless
now.”
The potion Gianna used had worked at first, helping Nygard Group report quick success to the
upper management.
But the aftermath was a nightmare–the potion’s side effects were far too severe.
The land was now contaminated and couldn’t be reused.
And this wasn’t ordinary land. Nygard Group had invested millions of dollars to cultivate that soil into fertile ground for delicate, high–value herbs.
Those rare herbs couldn’t grow just anywhere.
So while Gianna’s method had solved the surface problem, it had created an even bigger one underneath.
Rebuilding that plot of land would take massive manpower, resources, and time.

If her potion hadn’t been so harsh, the soil could have kept producing herbs for another ten years without issue.
But now? It was finished.
“What do we do now? If we’d known her potion had such bad side effects, we never should’ve let her mess with it.”
“Getting a new patch of land ready for those herbs isn’t just about money and effort—it’ll take years!”
“Exactly. Once the higher–ups find out, they’re going to lose it.”
Those who never liked Gianna in the first place were furious and started complaining to Miguel
nonstop.
Of course, a few who had benefited from Gianna’s favor spoke up for her.
“Come on, you guys are just using her and tossing her aside! Have a little gratitude. Weren’t you all praising her before?”
“Yeah, seriously. You were all thanking her yesterday, and now that something went wrong, you’re turning your backs on her?”
The disagreement quickly turned into a shouting match, with both sides defending their own
person.
Miguel was stuck in the middle, feeling like he could barely breathe.
Lately, it seemed like nothing in his life was going right–just one headache after another.
To make matters worse, their father, Raymond, was away on a business trip overseas.
Miguel could only hope Marcelo would help.
But before he could even explain, Marcelo cut him off coldly.
“Didn’t
you say you’d take full responsibility for Gianna? Now that there’s a problem, don’t come to me. Go talk to her.”
That one sentence made Miguel’s chest tighten. He felt even more suffocated–but he couldn’t argue.
He had promised to take care of Gianna.
But now, he wasn’t so sure he could.
