The Invisible Wife Turned Savage novel Chapter 200

Chapter 200 Trading Rings for Survival

Selene couldn’t help cursing herself. “Serves me right. I should never have been that stupid in the first place.”

Lana tapped her phone thoughtfully. “That woman Greg divorced? She’s slick. If we tell her directly, she may not bother to make a scene. But if we get his fiancée involved, let them claw each other’s eyes out, now that’s a show worth watching.”

She pulled up Greg’s ex-wife’s posts again, screenshotting the settlement details. Then she traced his fiancée’s account, casily finding the timeline of their first date-smack in the middle of Greg’s marriage. Alongside it, she found photos of the expensive jewelry he’d bought her.

Snap. Screenshot.

Lana smirked as she sent the two women each other’s receipts.

Estella and Selene leaned over her shoulder, eyes wide. “That’s perfect,” Selene whispered. “I want front-row seats when the claws come out.”

“You won’t be there,” Lana said dryly. “But take it from me, no more playing the fool. If I see you fall back into love-brain again, I’ll knock sense into you myself.”

Selene pressed her palms together dramatically. “I swear, I’ll listen this time.”

Estella laughed, but a pang of envy hit her as she watched the two women bicker like sisters. She wished she’d met them years earlier.

Lana turned her attention to her. “And you, Estella-if Nathaniel so much as breathes on you again, slap him. Don’t hold back. If you land yourself in trouble, I’ll bail you out. And if I can’t, Mr. Bennett will. You’re not alone.”

Estella smiled, touched despite herself. “I doubt he’ll try anymore. He and Isabelle are about to get married.”

“Married?” Selene and Lana exchanged disbelieving glances.

Lana frowned, then snapped her fingers. “Hartwell Group’s stock has been tanking. Of course— Nathaniel’s just trying to ride the Monroe family’s coattails.”

Estella nodded. “That’s probably it.”

Selene snorted. “Men really will trade their marriages like stock options.”

“Only just figuring that out?” Lana arched a brow. “Love isn’t free. It’s always a transaction. I’ve handled enough divorce cases to know-women who throw their whole hearts in without

guarding themselves always end up stripped bare. Before marriage, you negotiate hard. After marriage, you demand your share. If a man tries to guilt you or bleed you dry, you fight him tooth and nail. Weak women make strong men. Strong women make men shrink.”

Selene sighed. “No wonder nobody ever fools you.”

“Exactly,” Lana grinned. “That’s why I was born for the single life.”

They all burst into laughter.

Then Selene smirked. “Careful, Estella. With all this doom and gloom, we’ll scare you off Mr. Bennett before it even starts.”

Estella shook her head. “Relax. We’re still just getting to know each other. I’m not about to lose my mind over him.”

Lana gave her a long look before softening. “Good. I’ve worked with him long enough-I can vouch for his character. He’s decent. But…” Her tone grew sharper. “Even the best man can change. Don’t ever forget that.”
