The Invisible Wife Turned Savage novel Chapter 205

Chapter 205 The Agreement

Nathaniel knew exactly what Isabelle was uneasy about.

But he couldn’t bring himself to erase Estella’s traces from this house.

So he suggested, “I still have another villa under my name. After we’re married, why don’t we move there instead? You won’t have to worry about redecorating.”

“No. I want to live here.” Isabelle’s tone was firm.

She couldn’t risk Nathaniel coming back to this house and reminiscing about Estella. She wanted every memory wiped clean.

Nathaniel finally gave in. “All right. Whatever you want.”

Isabelle’s smile returned. “Nathaniel, let’s have a little wine.”

She wanted things to progress further between them. He never took the initiative, so she would have to lower his guard herself.

Nathaniel fetched a bottle of red from the cabinet and poured two glasses.

They sat on the sofa, drinking, Isabelle chattering on about their childhood.

Nathaniel barely heard a word. His mind was full of memories of Estella how she used to force small talk in the early days of their marriage, how she eventually grew silent, how the air between them had grown heavier and heavier.

If only he had spoken more back then.

The wine dulled his senses. When Isabelle suggested they go to the bedroom, the last thread of clarity in his mind refused.

Not there. Not the master bedroom. Estella had once seen them in that room, and her anger still haunted him.

“Not the bedroom,” he said hoarsely.

Isabelle bit back her frustration, her eyes glistening. “Then… the living room?”

He closed his eyes. “…Fine.”

On the sofa, she clung to him, whispering in his ear, “Nathaniel, I’m

yours now.”

But in his haze, he murmured another name. “Estella… don’t leave me.”

Isabelle froze. Shame and fury twisted in her chest.

Even now, even here, he still thought of Estella.

The next morning, Nathaniel woke with a pounding headache.

He regretted letting Isabelle stay. He regretted not taking precautions. If she were pregnant,

what then?

He thought of asking her to take something, but with the wedding so close, how would that sound? Wouldn’t it only make her suspicious?

Isabelle walked out with breakfast, smiling sweetly. “Nathaniel, come eat.”

“You cooked this yourself?”

She nodded.

“You shouldn’t trouble yourself. Zelda could’ve done it.”

“I wanted you to taste my cooking.”

“You’re not Estella. Why wear yourself out?”

The words slipped out before he realized, and he froze, guilty.

Isabelle’s expression didn’t change. Her smile stayed bright. “What Estella could do, I can do too. I can even do it better, Nathaniel.”

He forced a smile and let the matter drop.

After breakfast, Isabelle produced a document. “Nathaniel, since we’re about to marry, could you sign this?”
