A flicker of surprise passed through Lucas’s eyes. He set his wine glass down with interest. “Oh?

I didn’t expect you to know so much about antiques.”

Sloane responded casually, “I studied a bit in the past.”

But Lucas could tell—Sloane’s eye for detail wasn’t something that came from just “a bit” of studying.

Sure enough, the final bid for the porcelain vase landed at 7.2 million.

Lucas cast her a look of admiration. “You were spot on.”

Several more items came up afterward–antique scrolls, jewelry, jade, and even a few fragmented ancient texts.

When one of the ancient books was carefully placed on the display table and opened, the aged, yellowed pages exuded the scent of time itself.

Sloane instantly perked up. She quickly picked up the tablet, zooming in on the high–res images of the book to examine the details.

Lucas noticed her sudden enthusiasm and leaned in. “You like it?”

Sloane pointed at the image on the tablet, her voice tinged with excitement. “This is a handwritten manuscript by a royal court physician. It contains a lifetime of medical insights and clinical experience–immensely valuable. But it was thought lost to history after dynastic changes. I can’t believe it showed up

here.”

It was rare for Lucas to see Sloane genuinely excited about something. His interest was piqued. “If it’s that valuable, why not buy it and study it properly?”

But Sloane frowned and shook her head lightly. “It’s too damaged. Without expert restoration, there’s no point–it’d be useless for research.”

Lucas’s eyes lit up with confidence. A smile tugged at his lips. “That’s funny–I happen to know one of the top figures in the field of ancient book restoration. He’s been doing this for decades and has restored countless priceless texts. Even damaged movable–type pages like these aren’t new to him. If we can win the bid and get him to help, there’s a good chance these books can be brought back to life,”

Sloane’s eyes brightened, her face full of surprise. “Really? You’re sure he’d help? Experts at that level are nearly impossible to get close to.”
