The moment the auctioneer finished speaking, the entire venue buzzed with excitement.
Low murmurs filled the once–quiet hall as all eyes locked onto the ten Disguise Pills displayed on the platform.
Sloane’s lips curled slightly. She turned to Lucas and murmured, “Looks like your early–stage promotion worked out.”
Lucas swept his gaze across the eager bidders. He gave no credit to himself. “Only because your pills work well enough to back it up.”
The auctioneer cleared her throat, raised a hand for silence, then declared, “The starting price for the Disguise Pill is 100,000. Each bid must increase by at least 50,000!”
As soon as her voice dropped, a bid rang out. “One hundred and fifty thousand!”
“Two hundred thousand!”
“Two hundred and fifty thousand!”
The crowd’s bids rolled in one after another, the price climbing fast. Sloane watched the enthusiastic buyers scramble to raise their paddles, secretly satisfied.
Though the Disguise Pill had incredible effects, at the end of the day, it was still just a beauty- enhancing supplement. This auction was more of a test run.
Lucas tilted his head toward her, voice warm. “What do you think the final price will be?”
Sloane smiled faintly and held up five fingers. “Half a million.”
Lucas raised his brows in amusement. “You’re confident in your pill, huh?”
“No,” Sloane said as she propped her chin on her hand and looked at him with a teasing glint. “I’m confident in you. For pure vanity, thirty thousand would be enough. But this is our first collaboration–if it sells too low, wouldn’t that affect our future ventures? Don’t you think so, Mr. Hawthorne?”
Lucas couldn’t help but laugh. She was clearly telling him to inflate the price–and doing it with such a straight face.
“Well then, since you’ve asked so nicely, I certainly can’t let you down.” He glanced at Andrew meaningfully.

“Five hundred thousand!” the auctioneer announced excitedly. “A stunning lady from VIP Room 9 has bid five hundred thousand! Do I hear another bid?”
The sudden price jump silenced the rest of the room.
On the massive screen, real–time commentary began to scroll:
“Half a million? She’s insane!”
“For a beauty pill? Seriously?”
“Gotta be a plant by the auction house, no way that’s a real bid.”
Sloane caught the skepticism but didn’t say anything. She didn’t quite understand what Lucas was up to–but she knew he never played without a plan. The only question was… what was his leverage this time?
“Five hundred thousand going twice…”
“Five hundred thousand going three times… Sold!”
With the fall of the gavel, the first Disguise Pill was officially sold.
Just like that? Sloane glanced over at Lucas, who was sipping his wine, completely at ease.
“Wait a minute!”
Just as the staff prepared to deliver the item to VIP Room 9, the shared screen for the room suddenly turned on.
