Chapter 253 The Test

Chapter 253 The Test

Madam Tessa and Molly watched the two figures disappear upstairs, grinning from ear to ear. “Ah, to be young again!”

In the afternoon, Sloane dragged Lucas around the villa, exploring every nook and cranny like it was a brand new world.

She pointed excitedly at all the flowers in the garden, asking endless questions. Lucas answered each one patiently, his gaze following her wherever she went, eyes filled with nothing but affection.

Still, a quiet doubt tugged at the back of Lucas’s mind. He remembered Sloane had mentioned the night before that she needed his help with something-but the whole day had passed, and she hadn’t brought it up once.

Eventually, he couldn’t help but ask, “Sloane, last night you said you needed a favor. What was it?”

Sloane stopped in her tracks and glanced back at him, a sly sparkle in her eyes.

Instead of answering, she grabbed his hand. “Come with me.”

Lucas looked at their joined hands and felt an unexpected flicker of nerves. Still, he let her lead him. upstairs without resistance.

She led him straight into her room and, without warning, closed the door behind them.

Lucas stood in the middle of the room, suddenly a little on edge. He looked at her, his heart beginning to race, and asked with a hint of unease, “Sloane… what are you doing?”

Sloane didn’t answer. She walked right up to him, placed her hands on his shoulders, and gave him a gentle push, making him fall back into the chair behind him.

Caught off guard, Lucas dropped into the seat./Before he could recover, Sloane leaned in, pressing her hands against his shoulders and bringing her face close to his.

She was so close he could see every flutter of her long lashes and the clear depths of her eyes.

Her fingers tilted his chin up gently, and her voice carried a teasing edge. “Don’t move. Look at me.”

Lucas’s heartbeat skyrocketed, a flush creeping into his cheeks. He stared at her, flustered, his voice rough and low, “Sloane… what are you trying to do?”

Sloane didn’t reply. She stared deep into his eyes like she was casting some kind of spell. Her gaze was intense, alinost magnetic, as though it could pull him into her completely.

Lucas could feel his pulse pounding and his breathing grow shallow.

But then, Sloane suddenly frowned. A trace of frustration flickered in her eyes. She realized she couldn’t concentrate on her little “enchantment”-her own heart was beating far too fast.

Looking into Lucas’s eyes, full of confusion and trust, she already had her answer.

Sloane let out a soft sigh, released his chin, and straightened up. “Alright. Test’s over.”
