An hour later, when Natalia lifted her arm on her own for the very first time, her mother’s sobs shook
everyone present.
The instant Natalia succeeded, the eyes of several medical investors in the stands lit up. One of them immediately pulled out his phone and whispered urgently, “Get in touch with Peak Corp right now; no matter the cost, we must secure the distribution rights to these bionics!”
The livestream chat blew up: “This tech is insane!”
“Peak Corp’s stock is about to skyrocket!”
“Dr. Rivers is amazing!”
From the corner, Bonnie stood frozen, her face twisted beneath the mask. The elaborate trap she had set to see Sloane disgraced had backfired spectacularly; instead, it had become the perfect launch event for Sloane’s medical bionics.
Worse still, the reporters had turned completely, their cameras and microphones all aimed at Sloane and her team.
“Ladies and gentlemen, what we’re witnessing here is a revolutionary milestone in medical history!” a prominent journalist shouted, voice trembling with excitement. “Dr. Rivers has developed the sixth- generation medical bionic, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge nanotechnology!”
Sloane stepped calmly into frame. “Technology should serve medicine. These bionics aren’t here to replace doctors; they’re ‘amplifiers’ of medical skill.” Her voice softened as she looked toward the little girl taking her first steps. “The true heart of medicine is making precise treatment accessible to more patients.”
At some point, Lucas had appeared behind her, impeccable in his suit, his gaze steady and warm. He said nothing, only handed her a datapad-its screen flashing with collaboration requests from thirty-seven of the world’s leading medical institutions, along with Peak Corp’s soaring stock curve.
Bonnie stared, nearly unraveling on the spot. But when she thought of the plans she still had in motion, a cold, sinister smile crept across her lips. Go on… enjoy your moment, Sloane.
Sloane approached her, smiling faintly. “In the end, I should thank you, Dr. Bonnie. Without you, I wouldn’t have found such a perfect opportunity to showcase my medical bionics.”
Bonnie’s molars nearly cracked from the force of her bite. Forcing a brittle sneer, she lowered her voice so only Sloane could hear. “Don’t celebrate too soon. The higher you climb, the harder you fall.”
Sloane’s lips curved upward. “Thank you for the warning, Dr. Bonnie.”
By noon, the charity clinic with the medical bionics had concluded. Sloane watched the last transport truck carrying them drive out of the children’s hospital; when she turned back, her phone was already buzzing nonstop.
The screen showed dozens of unread messages-from international medical associations, elite universities, multinational pharmaceutical giants-all of them cooperation requests.
“Ms. Rivers,” her secretary hurried over, handing her a tablet. “A medical lab is offering a billion dollars
