Chapter 414 Guess Who Brought Tanks

Shawn gritted his teeth. “You’re slandering me!”

Charlie’s smile chilled; he suddenly raised a hand and signaled, “Shoot the resister on sight!”

A gunshot ripped through the air; Lucas hurled himself at Shawn and knocked him down just as a bullet sliced past Shawn’s shoulder, leaving a streak of blood.

“They’ve got snipers!” Jaime swore as he fired back, but the enemy’s suppressing fire was overwhelming; the group was forced to fall back inside.

Charlie’s voice boomed through a loudspeaker. “The suspects refused to surrender and attacked officers with weapons; use lethal force!”

Shawn clutched his bleeding shoulder, anger flaring in his eyes. This scumbag’s trying to kill me too: then there’d be no witnesses…

At the last moment, the distant roar of engines cut through the chaos, followed by a burst of gunfire; Charlie’s men were caught off guard and several went down instantly.

“It’s the military!” Jaime cried, peering out the window in relief.

A convoy of armored vehicles had smashed through the perimeter; at the lead vehicle a dignified middle–aged man jumped down–it was Kaizen.

Charlie’s face drained of color when he saw the approaching armored cars; it went nearly ashen when he realized it wasn’t only Kaizen stepping out of the first vehicle but also Mirevia’s Army General Nathan in uniform–his legs nearly gave out.

He forced a smile and hurried forward. “Captain Nathan! Mr. Kaizen! You’ve arrived just in time; I received word that the three robbers who kidnapped Mr. Shawn are inside-”

“Robbers?” Kaizen’s cold gaze swept over the armed police, finally fixing on Charlie. “Did you intend to shoot my son dead when you ordered fire just now?”

Nathan raised a hand; a squad of soldiers immediately disarmed the police on the scene.

The silver–haired general’s voice was steady and authoritative. “Under Mirevia Law Article 37, the military has authority to take over cases involving the security of senior officials‘ families.” He looked Charlie in the eye. “Now explain why you ordered fire on my old friend’s son.”

Cold sweat beaded on Charlie’s forehead, but he forced a calm reply. “General, it’s a misunderstanding. My intel said Mr. Shawn had already been killed; if I’d known he was

inside, I would never have ordered the shots.”

“Mr. Charlie, there were no robbers here,” Kaizen cut in sharply. “My son told me with his own mouth that the people here saved his life.”

At that moment the villa gate opened; Shawn, clutching his wounded shoulder, walked out. “Dad! Uncle Nathan!”
