Sloane blinked, hiding the glimmer of surprise in her eyes. Calmly, she said, “Okay”
Lucas stepped aside. Sloane leaned forward slightly, knees bent, gripping the bowling ball just as he’d shown her. Her arm swung back slowly, then pushed forward with force.
The ball wobbled as it rolled down the lane, slowing more and more–until it stopped just short of the pins without knocking down a single one.
Summer immediately covered her mouth and giggled. “Tch! I thought she was something special. Turns out she couldn’t hit even one.”
Samantha finally relaxed. She wasn’t great at bowling either, but beating someone like this Sloane? That was going to be easy.
But Sloane didn’t seem to hear any of it. She kept practicing, even though she failed to hit a single pin again and again.
“Sloane, your thirty minutes are up,” Summer called out, unable to contain her eagerness to crush Sloane and wipe away her earlier humiliation.
Sloane walked over without argument. “Alright, let’s begin.”
Jill looked worried. “Sloane, are you sure? Maybe I should take your place?” She leaned closer and whispered, her eyes full of concern.
Sloane gave her shoulder a light pat. “It’s fine. Just for fun.”
Summer crossed her arms and raised her chin high, arrogance oozing from every pore. “Sloane, I’ll let you go first–for your brother’s sake. That way, you won’t start whining about fairness after you lose.”
“Sure,” Sloane said without flinching. She walked calmly to the foul line, bent slightly, and wrapped her fingers around the ball with deliberate control.
Samantha and Summer exchanged a glance, both certain that victory was already in the bag.
But a sharp gleam flickered in Sloane’s eyes–so quick no one else caught it. She stepped forward and released the ball.
It shot down the lane like an arrow loosed from a bow. With a crisp crack, all ten pins went flying–strike.

Summer’s grin froze on her face. Her eyes went wide, her mouth hanging open. “Th–that’s not possible…”
Samantha went pale, her body trembling slightly, utterly stunned.
Jill leapt into the air with joy. “Sloane, that was amazing!”
Sloane remained calm, as if this had all gone exactly as expected. She gently dusted off her hands, then looked up at Summer. “Your turn.”
