I appreciate you all for rebuilding my tower. I know this is not enough to express my gratitude, but I want you to have it. Your names, down to your lineage, will be passed to generations, for you will remain in the royalsfavor till eternity.

When the decree was read aloud, the men froze, their fears silenced by awe.

It was late evening hen I finally honored the builders who had raised my tower with love and dedication.

Gold bars that could buy fortunes and soon fill their homes with food were now theirs, along with a decree that their bloodlines would forever be favored by my descendants.

They deserved every bit of it.

Looking at Anahita, I caught the small smile playing at her lips. I had never seen her so happy

or content.

She had been one of the most loyal and hardworking maids, leading the younger ones, like Blue, to perform their duties with perfection. For that, she too was honored.

My uncle was absent, but Baron attended the ceremony, along with the elders who came to perform their duties.

It felt normal, considering the spectacle he and my aunt Eiryn caused last night. Still, something about his absence left me uneasy, like I was missing a vital piece of something.

I leaned back in my seat, watching the builders as they expressed their thanks again and again. Their voices grew distant, fading into the background as a strange heaviness crept over me.

It was different. Unsettling.

Last night I had felt nothing unusual, but this morningan emptiness had woken with me. And now, it was worsening.

I nodded at Baron, who approached immediately, bowing his head.

They can disperse now. I want to be alone.

He obeyed, dismissing everyone. Soon the hall emptied, leaving only Baron, Chantel, and me.

Heartbroken,he sighed. We’re hoping you’ll sign the divorce decree soon so they can separate.

Is Uncle Dareth at home?

He came back late last night,” Baron replied, making me raise a brow. He left the kingdom earlier. He does that often.

Even before my woman ordered the gates opened?

Yes. The guards obey his command. I think he visits his mistress. She’s a werewolf.

I exhaled heavily and raked my fingers through my hair. Baron was still waiting for instructions when I heard the sound of carriage wheels outside.

Curiosity stirred. I knew it was her.

I started to rise, but a strange force held me back, something dark, ominous. My demon side refused to respond, leaving me sinking back into my seat. I tried to breathe through the fog clouding my senses.

Then I heard her voice.

Lycan?

That voice. That one woman.

Slowly, I lifted my gaze to see her standing in the doorway.

Zephyrine.

Her

presence filled me with joy. She walked toward me, smiling softly, and lowered herself onto my lap. Her hands cupped my face before she pressed a gentle kiss to my lips.

My palm slid around her waist as I gazed at her tenderly.

You okay?I asked.

Never been better, she smiled. The ritual was simple. Luna Tahlia and I are back.” Her eyes searched mine, too sharp, too perceptive. She saw it before I could mask it.

Lycan? Her tone sharpened, drawing my gaze away. But she tilted my chin, forcing me to meet her eyes. Lycanare you alright?

She looked worried, and I hated that for her, not now, not when she was this happy.

I’m fine. Don’t worry,I murmured. Just tired.”

She sighed softly, placing a kiss on my forehead.

Let’s get you to the tower, then. Come on.”

1 steadied her as she rose, then stood myself. Having done all that was required today, I nodded to Baron, who bowed, and walked out with Zephyrine, our fingers intertwined.

As we turned a corner, I noticed her spirit guard still standing in the courtyard, bathed in moonlight.

Your spirit guard is still here,I murmured.

Maybe it’ll take time before it vanishes, she replied.

I nodded, continuing until we reached the dining hall. Zephyrine slowed as we climbed the stairs, her eyes bright with a secret.

Lycan, remember I promised to tell you something important?

Yes,I said, focused entirely on her. You mentioned it this morning.”

She began to speak but her voice faded. A sharp, agonizing cry echoed in my head, prickling my skin.

A blinding flash seared my vision, and I stumbled back, gasping. I turned toward the table, struggling to breathe, trying to understand what just happened when it hit me.

Lycan?Zephyrine’s voice was panicked. Lycan
