The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 140

It would be a lie to say she didn't resent him. She’d given the best years of her youth to that man, poured all her hopes and dreams into him, only to lose everything in the end. Who could accept that without bitterness?

“Let’s cut to the chase. I’ll ask you one thing and I want a straight answer—are you breaking up with him or not?” Cheryl’s expression turned cold. If Wendy still couldn’t end it this time, Cheryl honestly wanted to pry open her friend’s thick skull and see if it was empty inside.

This time, Wendy didn’t hesitate at all. “Of course I am. But you both have to help me with something first.”

Both of you.

Clearly, she meant Lindsay was included.

“Oh? And what exactly do you need us to do?” Lindsay asked with a curious smile.

If there was a way to help a girl out of a pit like this, Lindsay figured she could put up with a little trouble herself.

Wendy clenched her fists, glaring daggers at Naomi and Joseph across the café. Her voice was icy. “I want you guys to help me beat the crap out of those two. I know you’re both tough enough—wipe the floor with them.”

Lindsay feigned innocence, pointing at herself. “Me? Do I really look like someone who gets into fights?”

Wendy gave her a sidelong glance, completely unruffled. “Cheryl said you’re the toughest one here.”

Cheryl: “…”

Well, she had said that. But did Wendy have to blab about every little detail? It’s one thing to admit they’d fight, but did she really need to spill the rest?

Lindsay leaned in close to Cheryl, her eyes narrowing playfully. “And have you ever seen me throw a punch?”

How did Cheryl know so much, anyway? They hadn’t even known each other that long.

Cheryl laughed it off. “Oh, that’s just what Yves told me—said you’re as smart as you are strong, a real force to be reckoned with.”

Lindsay didn’t press further, but Cheryl definitely piqued her curiosity.
