The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 97

Lindsay took the folder from him and nodded. “Alright, I’ll get it done as soon as I can.”

“You’d better finish it within a week.” Lester’s tone was sharp, almost like he was giving orders to a subordinate who had no choice but to obey.

Lindsay merely replied with a quiet “okay,” not bothering to argue. She turned to leave.

But before she could take a step, Lester grabbed her wrist and pushed a jewelry box into her hand.

“This is for you.”

She blinked at him. “What’s this for, all of a sudden?” People didn’t just hand out gifts for no reason—Lester was definitely up to something.

“Open it. See if you like it.”

Lindsay lifted the lid and burst out laughing when she saw the ‘Runaway Princess’ necklace inside.

Suddenly, everything made sense. In her previous life, this was the necklace Lester had given to Naomi.

Now, after being given a second chance, Lester was handing it to her instead. She could guess why—earlier today, she’d used an anonymous email to send Lester some incriminating photos of Naomi and Joseph together.

Clearly, in a fit of anger, Lester had decided to give the necklace—originally meant for Naomi—to her. And now he needed her help to get Yves to sign those papers.

“What’s so funny?” Lester frowned, puzzled.

“It’s a lovely gift. Thank you.” Lindsay sidestepped his question, taking the jewelry box and the folder upstairs.

Once she reached the fourth-floor sitting room, she tossed the jewelry box straight into the trash without a second thought.

A gift from trash is still trash. The garbage can was exactly where it belonged.

She headed to her bedroom, but after a moment, she came back out, fished the jewelry box from the bin, popped it open, and snapped a photo. Only after that did she drop it back in the trash.

She sent the picture to Naomi with a message: This is the necklace your dear Lester just gave me. Isn’t it gorgeous?
