Before Theresa could react, the lights above her flickered red, and several beams of crimson laser trapped her on the spot.

The two men in white coats who had just been speaking rushed out.

“Who are you?”

Others in the corridor quickly poured out as well.

“I don’t even know where I am.” Theresa raised the work badge in her hand.

“I came here looking for help,” she explained.

A man in a white coat stepped forward.

His eyes were cold as he studied her. “Where did you come from?”

“Someone brought me to the restroom just now,” Theresa explained earnestly.

“The tank broke, water leaked everywhere, and he was electrocuted. I came out to find help, but I don’t know how I ended up here.”

She spoke with convincing sincerity.

The leader gave her one more look, then turned with his team toward the way she had come.

“Bring her along,” he instructed.

The group surged forward, but Theresa cooperated without resistance, following obediently behind.

When they reached the restroom, they found someone collapsed in a pool of water, electrocuted.

The leader immediately spoke into his earpiece, asking security for footage.

Half a minute later, suspicion clouded his gaze as he turned to Theresa.

He spoke into his earpiece once more. “B179, get over here.”

The other restroom door opened, and the man who had first escorted Theresa appeared.

“B179, your man’s down. Watch out,” the leader said.

“Got it, A–Rank!”

From their exchange, Theresa finally understood what those letters meant.

These people had ranks.

The person she had electrocuted earlier was a C–Rank personnel, the lowest rank.

The one who led her here was a B–Rank, while the leader with the cold eyes was an A–Rank- the highest ranking out of the three.

That explained why her C–Rank keycard couldn’t open the door and triggered the alarm.

“One of your men was electrocuted. Take note, alright?” said the A–Rank.

“Take her back, and don’t let anyone wander around again.”

“Understood!”

The A–Rank leader and his group left after dismissing Theresa.

B179 lingered, watching as the others left while carting the electrocuted man away.

Suspicion flickered in his eyes as he turned back to Theresa.

“What really happened?” he asked.

“The toilet tank broke. He came into contact with the water and died being electrocuted. I rushed out to find help.”

B179 frowned, but since the man had already been taken away and the A–Rank had let things slide, there wasn’t much left for him to question.

He glared at her sharply. “Hurry up. You’re the last one.”

By then, the examinations were completed.

Everyone was already waiting inside for Theresa, the final person.

As she walked in, she spotted Vinny in the crowd, her eyes full of worry.

Theresa gave her a small nod in reassurance.

B179’s cold voice sounded in her ear. “Behave yourself. If you stir up trouble again, I’ll throw you straight to the zombies.”

His tone was flat and sharp, clearly fed up with Theresa’s repeated incidents.

After going through the first round of basic checks, she approached the X–ray gate.

On the other side, the others had been waiting impatiently for her.

Seeing how slowly and carelessly she moved, irritation rippled through the group.

“Hurry up!”

“She’s the last one holding us up!”

“The final test is to check for her abilities. If she doesn’t have one, just get it over with!”

“She doesn’t seem to have any powers at all.”

“Exactly! We’ve never seen her use anything.”

The people had already been sorted into three groups–those with abilities, those without, and a smaller group of rare or special abilities.

Vinny stood in that last group.

The ability test involved a unique device.
