he Apocalyptic Queen Theresa

Chapter 564 A Kingdom of the Undead

Finished

Everyone kicked hard toward the bank after Theresa and the others plunged into the river. By the time they hauled themselves onto solid ground, more people were splashing behind them in scattered waves.

The zombies milling around the streets caught the fresh scent of living flesh drifting off the river. In an instant, they swarmed toward the shore.

Theresa was among the first out of the water. She scrambled up, grabbed Quentin’s arm, and froze at seeing a young female zombie barreling straight at her. The thing’s body had rotted for four long years- skin shriveled and filthy, hair a matted mess.

She wore nothing but running shorts and a tank top. The rest of her bodyarms, stomach, those long legs -was torn to ribbons, mangled with bite marks. The wounds had dried into leathery strips, shriveled like old jerky. She was a patchwork of holes and decay, horrifying to look at.

Raaahhh!

The zombie let out a guttural howl. Her mouth gaped wide, and her breath was rank with rot. A row of teeth still intact, crawling with pale maggots. The stench that poured from her gut and throat was enough to make someone black out.

With a sudden lunge, she vaulted over the park railing by the riverbank and came crashing down toward Theresa.

Whoosh!

Theresa yanked the blade Sage had given her out of the domain and brought it down in a brutal slash across the zombie.

Theresa! Behind you!Steven’s shout cut through the chaos.

She whipped her head around. The riverside path behind her was flooded with a horde of zombies, a black tide of bodies thundering straight at her.

The zombies were grotesquemissing arms, missing legs. Their deformities barely mattered. What was truly horrifying were their facesrotted and decayed over the years, stretched into something inhuman.

Pale, lifeless skin crisscrossed with black veins. Their cloudy, grayish eyes glowed with a raw, hungry intensity, like they could tear the people apart just by looking.

A massive zombie charged toward them, arms swinging, legs pumping, moving with relentless force.

Run!Theresa shouted, grabbing Quentin and hauling him forward without a second thought.

From behind, Tyler and the others were momentarily frozen. They’d expected Theresa to put on some kind of heroic display. Instead, she bolted.

Keep up!Steven yelled, snapping them out of their stupor.

The group sprinted as fast as they could.

Chapter 564 A Kingdom of the Undead

Fmished

The zombies pressed close, unyielding. But soon, the zombiesattention shifted. New prey had landed on the Everbrook Riverparachutes dropping fresh meals: humans.

Splash after splash, zombies leapt into the water, thrashing toward those unlucky souls, hitting the river below.

One guy was almost at the shore, thinking he might make it. But the zombies surrounded him in an instant.

He tried to backpedal, but the zombies hit the water after him, one after another, like some twisted aquatic nightmare. They swarmed him, dragging him under while gnawing and tearing with ferocious hunger.

The river filled his lungs, icy water choking him as the zombies covered his body, ripping into his stomach, his insides, his thighs, his neck, his face

Every bite and pull drew him deeper into the dark, merciless current.

Aaaagh-

His screams never made it past the wateronly a trail of bubbles and blood rippling through the river.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

More and more zombies were leaping into the river.

The sky hung heavy with dark clouds. October winds ripped through Stratford, strong and biting.

The gusts rolled off the sea, weaving between skyscrapers, tossing debris into the streets.

A crumpled newspaper from four years ago slapped against a dustcaked car window. In that instant, the city frozen in death four years prior stirred again, chaotic and alive.

Aaaargh!

Aaaargh!

Aaaargh!

Zombies poured out from every street, residential block, and neighborhood.

Stratford was a firsttier international metropolis of the Avalon region, densely packed with people. Its area was roughly the same as Ansford’s, but its population had once been twenty times larger.

Before the apocalypse, over twenty million souls lived there. Once it hit, the city became a sea of red.

Not a single human survived. Not one. Stratford had become a kingdom of the undead.

The zombies surged forward like a tidal wave. Every street, every cornernothing but the undead.
