Chapter 566 Planning the Escape
Everyone was dumbfounded.
Theresa had plenty of experience. She had already seen glass doors like these in big buildings get broken through several times.
These doors were useless.
If there were only a few zombies, that was one thing, but with a large crowd, they would break through quickly.
And there were so many zombies here.
There was no way they could hide inside the building for three days. They had to find a safer place to stay.
Theresa looked at the zombies temporarily blocked outside, then turned and walked deeper into the building. When everyone saw her move, they all followed.
At that moment, Theresa was their absolute leader.
If anyone dared to go against her or question her, the others would tear that person apart.
Theresa walked through the empty building, thinking about where they should go next.
Right now, they were in the busiest part of Stratford, along the Everbrook River. On both sides of the river were popular spots from before the world ended–huge shopping malls, business centers, and foreign embassies.
She was inside one of those landmark buildings in the middle of it all.
If she wanted to survive, she needed to find a safe place that also made it easy to leave.
The Divine Academy would be coming to pick people up in three days, so they needed a place where they could get out quickly.
If they hid underground, they wouldn’t be able to get picked up.
So, they needed somewhere safe but also easy to escape from.
As she thought about this, Theresa went up to the second floor. She walked to the window and looked down at the Everbrook River, her eyes landing on the financial building about 600 feet
away.
The financial building was the tallest tower in the country, over 500 feet high with eighty floors.

On the roof, there was a large helipad.
“Theresa, I know this area well. I used to work here,” Steven said, stepping up.
Theresa turned to look at him. “Then do you know the safest way to get to the financial building?”
Steven thought for a moment, then pointed toward a set of buildings ahead. “That’s Everbrook One, the most expensive complex in Stratford. Before the world ended, fewer than half the units were sold, and even fewer people lived there. If we go that way, it’ll definitely be safer.”
Theresa followed his finger with her eyes, looking at the complex.
They were only about 300 feet from it. If they crossed through, the last row of Everbrook One was just 400 feet from the financial building.
It was a good spot.
“Get ready. Before nightfall, we need to reach Everbrook One,” Theresa told the group.
Everyone immediately sat down on the floor to rest while they had the chance.
There were still 300 feet to run. No one could fall behind.
Theresa had already said she wouldn’t save anyone who slowed the group down.
If they wanted to survive, they had to keep up with her.
While the others rested, Theresa looked for the best way out of the building.
But outside, the streets were full of zombies.
This was a busy tourist area, so there was no way there would be only a few people around.
Just then, she heard a loud gunshot.
Bang!
Across the Everbrook River, someone had fired the shot.
Theresa tilted her head, looking out the window toward the sound.
She saw a man running for his life down a street swarming with zombies. The shot had come from him.
He had taken down a zombie with a headshot, but the gunfire had drawn even more zombies

his way.
Zombies that had been chasing other people all turned and rushed toward him.
Within moments, the entire street was full of zombies.
