Ronald was right. The way the Jackmans lashed out at her was no different from a mindless stray dog, barking and snapping without reason.
And really, who argues with a mad dog?
So Tracy just stood there, waiting for Andrew to finish his outburst before replying slowly, “Mr. Jackman, you’re right. Ms. Jackman is the most obedient and well–mannered.”
She brushed him off and asked, “Do you have anything else? I’ve been busy lately. If this isn’t about work, I’d appreciate it if you stopped bothering me.”
Andrew’s face darkened. After all his effort, she still looked unmoved. Her attitude had crushed all the hope he had in her.
He stared at her for a long moment, as if he had more to say, but all that came out was a heavy sigh.
Everything he said had come from treating her like a sister, from thinking he was looking out for her. Yet she refused to show even a shred of gratitude.
Of course, she wasn’t really a Jackmans by blood. No wonder she couldn’t appreciate his good intentions!
Taking a deep breath, Andrew forced down his anger. “I don’t care what grudge you and Simon have,” he said firmly. “But dragging the company down with your personal issues is unacceptable. Right now, there’s still a chance to fix this. Go make peace with Simon, and I’ll clean up the rest.”
He spoke like he was the noble one, swooping in to fix her mistakes–as if Tracy were some reckless child who didn’t know better.
Tracy laughed outright. “Make peace with Simon? Mr. Jackman, do you even know what Simon tried to do to me?”
Andrew frowned, clearly displeased, but said nothing.
He obviously had no idea what had really happened that night. He hadn’t even bothered to find out what Erin meant when she claimed Tracy had set Simon up.
He had just taken Erin’s word for it and rushed to blame Tracy, forcing her to bear the fallout. Tracy didn’t wait for him to answer. “He had me tied up and dragged to a hotel. He set up

Andrew froze.

He had always known Simon resented Tracy and would strike if given the chance, but he never imagined Simon would go that far.
Had Simon lost his mind?
Tracy sneered at the shock on his face. “Mr. Jackman, tell me—if I hadn’t been lucky enough to be rescued, what do you think would have happened to me?”
Her voice was calm but sharp, like a needle stabbing straight into Andrew’s chest. For the first time, he found himself unable to meet her eyes.
But Andrew had been pampered his whole life. Even when he was wrong, no one dared to confront him.
Tracy’s blunt question felt like a slap across the face.
His sudden surge of anger smothered the guilt he’d felt, and without realizing it, he raised his voice as if volume alone could make him seem in control.
“Even if Simon went too far, it’s still a private matter between the two of you. You’re fine now, aren’t you? There’s no reason to blow this up to the point it hurts the company.”
Tracy blinked, stunned that he could actually say such a thing.
She had always known Andrew was arrogant, the kind of man who twisted stories to suit himself.
But aside from losing his head whenever Erin was involved, he had always been calm and rational.
Now he stood here telling her, “You’re fine, aren’t you?”
Was Liam wrong about her being related to the Jackmans by blood?
Because if she truly shared blood with someone who could say something so heartless, it made her sick to her stomach.
She almost didn’t know whether to laugh or rage.
“I’m fine because I was lucky–because Ronald got there in time. And you’re saying Simon’s crime should just be wiped clean because I survived? That’s your logic?”
