But right now, the company’s crisis was more important than anything else, so he pushed aside his confusion and stood up.
He had barely gotten to his feet when Tracy suddenly raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face.
Smack!
The sound cracked through the office like a gunshot. Tracy had used nearly all her strength, pouring years of pent–up anger into that one blow.
Andrew, a grown man, was knocked sideways.
He stumbled and crashed headfirst into the corner of a table cluttered with decorations.
The moment he fell, his forehead slammed hard against the corner of the table.
Thud!
Warm blood trickled down his forehead. A wave of dizziness almost sent him to the floor, but he managed to grab onto a chair and steady himself.
It took him a long moment to shake off the spinning in his head. Pressing a hand to his bleeding forehead, he turned back to Tracy, eyes wide with shock.
“You–you’re out of your mind! How dare you hit me?”
Tracy’s hand stung from the force of the slap.
She shook out her wrist, her face calm as she looked at him. “Don’t be so dramatic, Mr. Jackman. Just a slap, it wouldn’t kill you.”
Her lips curved into a mocking smile. “See? You’re standing just fine.”
Her words mirrored his own from earlier, and Andrew instantly realized she had done it on
purpose.
Just minutes ago, he had been urging Tracy to make peace with Simon. Now that the slap had landed on him, Andrew had no intention of taking the moral high ground.

Andrew was known for his good temperament. The only times he had truly lost his temper were when an employee made a costly mistake that hurt the company or when Tracy–back when she was the family’s beloved darling–was bullied.
Even then, Tracy had always feared Andrew’s wrath.
But not anymore. She only gave him a cold laugh. “Save your indulgence for someone else, Mr. Jackman. It’s too much for me to handle.”
She had no interest in wasting more words. Turning her back, she walked straight to the door.
At the door, she swung it wide open deliberately, making sure everyone passing by could get a good look at their usually composed and dignified CEO, bleeding and humiliated.
Andrew saw what she’d done, and fury boiled inside him.
Just as he thought, he had spoiled Tracy rotten. And now she was completely out of control. If that was the case, then he wouldn’t hold back for family’s sake any longer.
With one hand pressed to his bleeding head, Andrew grabbed the phone with the other. “Get ready. Call a shareholder meeting. I’m removing Tracy from her position as Deputy CEO!”
Even though he tried to keep his voice level, the fury seeping through was impossible to miss.
Tracy’s position as Deputy CEO had been secured through a high–stakes gamble with the shareholders.
The projects under her control promised huge profits, and firing her now meant throwing those profits away.
This was the first time Andrew had ever made a decision that put his personal emotions above the company’s interests.
So when Tracy heard about the shareholders‘ meeting to remove her, she froze for a moment -then burst out laughing.
She always thought Andrew was the type to value the company more than his life, willing to sacrifice everything for the family’s success.
Turns out, he was just a selfish man hiding behind a mask.
Tracy wasn’t worried about the meeting.

Even though Andrew held 20% of the shares and was the company president, Jackman Enterprises wasn’t a one–man show.
