“Was that the regional director Danielle and her team just met with?” He turned to look at Millie and Alexander.
Millie hesitated, her brows knitting together. “Why would they?”
They’d always worked strictly with their designated partners—there was no way they’d be meeting with Ninesky.
“I’m certain. I saw their car just pull away.”
He doubted his own eyes for a second, but there was no mistaking what he’d seen.
As Danielle turned around, she met Alexander’s cool, dark gaze.
He spoke first. “Did you reach an agreement?”
Gian stepped forward, his smile barely there. “We did. The contract’s already signed.”
His eyes were cold. “Looks like Mr. Davidson will have to open his wallet wide this time.”
Millie felt a chill run down her spine at those words.
A sense of impending crisis crept in.
If they actually managed to hit the profit margins outlined in that agreement, she’d have to pick up the pace on her own research and development—or risk losing everything she’d built.
She’d just returned from her studies abroad, bringing back a trove of cutting-edge tech.
“There’s no issue,” Alexander replied calmly. “Ninesky’s success just proves Newsworld’s investment instincts are sharp.”
Alexander’s gaze lingered on Danielle, his features refined and emotions unreadable.
“Congratulations,” he said.
Danielle’s expression was cool and distant. She simply nodded, then left with Gian.
Liam’s brow furrowed deeply.
“They land one deal and suddenly act so smug.” He glanced away. “How did they even make that connection?”
Millie pressed her lips together. “With Gian’s reputation, it’s not surprising.”
Danielle was just basking in Gian’s reflected glory.
What right did she have to act so high and mighty?
–
Once Gian and Danielle were in the car—
“Did you catch the look on Millie’s face? That made my day,” Gian said, sounding satisfied. “Serves her right.”
“And Alexander’s expression was worth savoring, too.”
Danielle set her bag down, buckled her seatbelt, and allowed herself a faint, easy smile. “Business is like war—everything can change in a heartbeat.”
As for Alexander—
She looked up abruptly. “This—”
And this was just a fraction of the data.
She could already picture the finished product’s impact.
“What is it?” Liam asked, taking the sheet from her. His heart skipped a beat as he scanned the numbers.
“This is—this blows the Verdphoenix X7 out of the water—”
“Gian’s work?” Liam struggled to process it. “No wonder Keegan and the government are all over this.”
Millie’s face darkened.
This project should have been hers.
With her at the helm, it would have reached even greater heights.
And Danielle—
She was just an undergrad who got lucky.
She’d picked the right horse.
“Millie, Gian really is a formidable opponent. Remember, the Verdphoenix X7 came out of Blackwood Research Institute back in the day. For all we know, that might’ve been his brainchild, too.”

Sooooo complicated sigh* Simply pls thanks....
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
