Millie knew perfectly well just how much influence Alexander still held over Danielle.
If Millie really had the guts, she wouldn’t have waited until now to start throwing around threats. The only reason she was speaking up was because she’d finally run out of patience and couldn’t hold back any longer. But in the end, it was all just empty words.
Millie didn’t take Danielle’s warnings seriously—she never had. Danielle had never once managed to do anything about her. After making her point, Millie gave Danielle a once-over, scoffed, then swung onto her motorcycle and sped off with Raffy in tow.
Niki watched Millie’s retreating figure, a small crease forming between her brows.
Danielle lowered her gaze and gently ruffled Niki’s hair. “No matter what they say to you, don’t listen. Don’t believe a word.”
Niki blinked, a little confused, but nodded obediently all the same.
Danielle couldn’t help worrying whether her daughter would be hurt if she ever learned the truth behind all the rumors.
Taking a deep breath, Danielle let the matter drop.
—
Gian had taken his team out to the desert to test equipment in extreme conditions.
That left Danielle alone at the company, juggling everything from top to bottom. She managed the office with practiced efficiency, and, working alongside Gian these past months, she’d slowly learned the ropes of running a business.
Everyone at the company listened to her without question.
In the world of tech, people only respect those who are more capable than themselves.
Around noon, Danielle’s phone rang. It was her grandmother.
“Dani, are you busy these days?”
She pressed her lips together before responding, “Grandma, I plan the anniversary every year—it’s gotten a bit old. Maybe this time you could hire a professional event planner. It’d be nice to try something new.”
But her grandmother didn’t agree.
“You always do such a beautiful job. Every year, it’s fresh and creative.” Her grandmother’s voice softened, but she pressed on, “You don’t have to be modest. Is there something else on your mind this year?”
Her grandmother was sharp, quick to pick up on the subtle tension between Danielle and Alexander—something that had only become more obvious lately, especially after all the trouble with Millie.
Danielle had started keeping things from her, stopped confiding, and the distance between them was growing.
Danielle let out a small laugh. “You’re overthinking it, Grandma. What could I possibly be worried about? Sometimes I just want to be a little lazy, that’s all.”
Her grandmother didn’t seem convinced, but she let it go. “Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll leave the anniversary in your hands again. Oh, and Jake will be back for it this year, too.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
